An Outstanding School in Sutton is looking to recruit a thoughtful and engaging Religious Education Teacher to join its Humanities Department. The school wants a teacher who can encourage meaningful discussion, develop students' understanding of different beliefs and help pupils form balanced, well-supported arguments.
Religious Education Teacher Role
Teaching RE across KS3 and KS4, including GCSE
Location: Sutton
Salary: MPS1–UPS3
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Start Date: ASAP
You will teach Religious Education across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, delivering lessons that explore religious beliefs, practices, philosophical questions and contemporary ethical issues.
At KS3, you will help students build their knowledge of different religious traditions and develop the ability to discuss beliefs respectfully. At GCSE, you will prepare pupils for the demands of the examination specification, including the evaluation of viewpoints, analysis of religious teachings and extended written responses.
Your lessons should encourage students to consider different perspectives, explain their reasoning and support their arguments with appropriate evidence. You will use discussion, written tasks and examination practice to strengthen students' understanding and confidence.
You will also assess progress regularly and provide specific feedback to help students improve their subject knowledge and written analysis.

Religious Education Teacher - Experience and Qualifications
Degree in Religious Studies, Theology, Philosophy or a related subject
QTS or recognised teaching qualification
Experience teaching RE at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4
GCSE RE experience
Strong knowledge of religious and ethical issues
Excellent written and verbal communication
Confidence leading classroom discussions
Effective classroom management
Strong planning and assessment skills
Ability to develop students' analytical writing
Commitment to student progress
Salary
The salary for this Religious Education Teacher position will be paid to scale on MPS/UPS, depending on experience and qualifications.
