Manager, People Operations - global
Company Description
We’re Checkout.com . You might not know our name, but companies like eBay, Spotify, Klarna, Uber, and Sony do, because we’re behind many of the digital experiences you use every day.
We are where the world checks out, enabling over 10 billion transactions yearly for more than one billion global shoppers.
We're looking for a proactive and operationally-minded Global People Operations Manager to help shape the future of People Operations at Checkout.com .
This role sits at the centre of our global People function, connecting people strategy, regional requirements and technology to ensure our operations are scalable, compliant and deliver a seamless employee experience. You'll work across every part of the People organisation, partnering with Regional People Directors, People Partners, Process Architects & Knowledge Leads, and People Technology to transform complex operational challenges into simple, effective solutions.
From driving AI adoption and operational automation, to leading global audits, business continuity planning and the evolution of our People Service Desk, you'll play a key role in modernising how we operate while ensuring strong governance, security and compliance.
If you enjoy improving processes, influencing stakeholders and building operational excellence at scale, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact across a global organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Future of People Operations & Operational Excellence
Champion an AI-first and automation-first approach to People Operations, embedding scalable, efficient ways of working that improve both the employee and People team experience.
Drive adoption of Checkout.com 's AI ecosystem, including Glean, Gemini, ChatGPT and Claude, helping colleagues build confidence and capability in using AI to improve productivity.
Partner with our Knowledge managers on our People Operations knowledge strategy, ensuring processes, guidance and operational content are maintained and surfaced through Glean to enable a best-in-class self-service experience.
Strategic Operations, Risk & Compliance
Lead People Business Continuity Planning (BCP), ensuring robust plans are in place to support critical People operations during business disruption.
Own the end-to-end audit process for the People function, partnering with internal and external auditors, coordinating evidence, tracking actions and ensuring timely remediation.
Govern access management across People Technology platforms. Maintain a least-privilege approach through regular access reviews and approval processes.
Represent relevant Checkout entities within quarterly Risk Committee meetings, preparing accurate reporting, risk assessments and supporting documentation for Board review.
Partner with Regional People Directors to operationalise changes arising from employment law or regulatory updates, ensuring systems and processes remain aligned while compliance ownership remains within the regions.
Process Design & Technology
Own the ongoing development of the People Service Desk (JSM), using operational data and employee insights to improve service delivery, reduce friction and increase self-service.
Partner with People Leadership and People Technology to maintain a balanced roadmap, ensuring initiatives are delivered while continually identifying opportunities to leverage automation and emerging technologies.
Partner with People Technology to monitor roadmap delivery, communicate progress and ensure priorities remain aligned with business needs.
Act as the operational bridge between Process Architects and regional People teams, consolidating global requirements while ensuring regional differences are appropriately reflected in solution design.
Content & Policy Governance
Lead the governance of People policies, ensuring they are clear, informative, well-structured, and reflective of both Checkout.com 's values and the needs of our employees. Ensure all policies remain compliant with applicable global and local employment laws, regulatory requirements, and evolving legislative changes, while maintaining consistency across regions where appropriate.
Partner with the Global Content Manager to maintain a consistent global policy framework, ensuring regional variations are accurately reflected where required.
Support the governance of operational content through standardised templates, structured review cycles and ongoing policy maintenance.
Program Leadership
Lead key operational programmes throughout the year, including the annual policy review cycle, Annual Leave Cash Out & Carry Over and the employee on-call process.
Work closely with People Partners and COEs to identify operational pain points, translating business needs into clear requirements and prioritised roadmap initiatives to improve global processes.
About You
You'll thrive in this role if you're someone who enjoys solving operational problems, bringing structure to complexity and working across multiple teams to deliver meaningful change.
What you’ll bring to the role
Experience in People Operations within a fast-paced, global or regulated environment.
A passion for operational excellence, with a natural curiosity for improving processes through technology, automation and AI.
Strong analytical skills, using operational data, audit findings and service metrics to identify trends and drive continuous improvement.
Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across technical, operational and business teams.
A solid understanding of governance, risk management, data privacy and access control principles.
Practical knowledge of employment legislation (particularly within the UK) and experience translating regulatory change into operational processes.
A builder's mindset, you look beyond today's process to design scalable solutions that will continue to work as the business grows.
