Burberry Archive Collections Manager

Burberry
London
Introduction

At Burberry, we believe creativity opens spaces. Our purpose is to unlock the power of imagination to push boundaries and open new possibilities for our people, our customers and our communities. This is the core belief that has guided Burberry since it was founded in 1856 and is central to how we operate as a company today.

We aim to provide an environment for creative minds from different backgrounds to thrive, bringing a wide range of skills and experiences to everything we do. As a purposeful, values-driven brand, we are committed to being a force for good in the world as well, creating the next generation of sustainable luxury for customers, driving industry change and championing our communities.

Job Purpose

We are looking for an Archive Collections Manager to help safeguard and shape one of Burberry's most valuable assets: our archive collection. This role combines collections expertise, operational leadership and stakeholder collaboration to ensure our archive continues to inspire creativity, support the business and preserve Burberry's heritage for future generations.

As Archive Collections Manager, you will oversee the care, movement and development of a diverse collection spanning garments, accessories, objects, paper and film. Working closely with teams across Design, Product, Creative and Brand Protection, you will enable access to the collection while ensuring the highest standards of preservation, governance and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the management, preservation and audit of Burberry's archive collections, ensuring assets are protected and maintained to the highest standards.
  • Oversee collection acquisitions, conservation activities and archive replicas, collaborating with internal and external partners to deliver quality outcomes on time and within budget.
  • Drive efficient archive operations, including collections management systems, policies, procedures and risk mitigation plans across multiple archive locations.
  • Partner with stakeholders across Design, Product, Styling, Brand Protection and other business functions to provide expert collections guidance and research support.
  • Manage archive logistics, shipments and storage projects, ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory and operational requirements.
  • Lead and develop the Archive Assistant while fostering effective collaboration with archive teams and partners across locations.

Personal Profile

  • Proven experience in collections management within an archive, museum, heritage or related environment.
  • Strong knowledge of collections management systems and confidence managing collection data and processes.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise multiple projects and deliver to deadlines.
  • Clear and effective communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across a diverse stakeholder group.
  • A collaborative and solution-focused approach, with the confidence to work independently and make informed decisions.
  • Genuine interest in heritage, craftsmanship and the luxury fashion industry, with a commitment to safeguarding collections for future generations.

Burberry is an Equal Opportunities Employer and as such, treats all applications equally and recruits purely on the basis of skills and experience.
