We are recruiting a Year 6 Teacher for a popular primary school in Dagenham. The successful Year 6 Teacher will design ambitious sequences of learning that combine curriculum depth with focussed preparation for transition, deliver booster and revision sessions, and lead assessment cycles. This Year 6 Teacher post starts January 2026, with induction and planning time scheduled prior to January 2026 to ensure the Year 6 Teacher can begin term-ready.

About the role
The Year 6 Teacher will design lessons that consolidate curriculum knowledge, develop exam technique where relevant and foster independence. The Year 6 Teacher will lead targeted interventions, use robust assessment to set achievable targets and communicate progress clearly with families. Working in Dagenham, the Year 6 Teacher will collaborate with phase colleagues and senior leaders to ensure smooth transition arrangements into secondary school.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver sequenced Year 6 lessons that balance curriculum coverage with targeted revision strategies.
- Use data to identify priorities, deliver high-impact booster groups and measure outcomes.
- Lead transition planning, liaise with secondary partners and prepare comprehensive handover materials.
- Contribute to moderation and reporting and support whole-school improvement activity across Dagenham.
- Maintain positive parent partnerships and communicate progress and next steps.
Person specification
- Qualified teacher with strong upper KS2 experience and evidence of effective Year 6 practice.
- Calm under pressure, organised and skilled at planning targeted programmes that raise attainment.
- Strong communicator with a collaborative approach to teaching in Dagenham.
- Able to take up post January 2026 and to attend induction and planning before January 2026.
