Service Designer

The AA
London

Thought The AA only provide roadside assistance? Think AA-X. Technology has made human life easier; from booking holidays and banking, through to meeting new people and work opportunities. But over the last decade owning and driving cars has gotten far tougher. At AA-X we are on a mission to re-invent the car ownership and usage experience. We imagine, build and grow connected car ventures. Using data and AI to provide car and driver insights with new solutions that give drivers control, confidence and a little joy across their motoring lives. As a Service Designer within AA-X, you’ll be a part of the UK’s largest and most trusted driving company, developing and testing human-centric products and services fast; whilst giving AA members first access to everything we build. Are you ready for a career where you’re always ahead? This is the job: At AA-X, we’re redefining the future of car ownership through cutting-edge connected car products. As our Service Designer, you’ll be at the heart of a fast-paced venture incubator, working alongside passionate experts to design and launch entirely new services that deliver real value to drivers. This is your chance to shape product categories from the ground up - translating complex data into intuitive, empowering experiences. You’ll operate at the intersection of customer insight, service design, and product innovation - partnering closely with R&D, Data Science, and cross-functional teams to turn emerging technologies into meaningful solutions. From validating early-stage ideas to crafting blueprints and journeys that guide delivery, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring our products are desirable, feasible, and commercially sound. What will I be doing? Lead customer and market research to uncover actionable insights and shape strategic opportunities. Translate complex data into compelling customer journeys and service blueprints. Design integrated, user-led services across digital and physical touchpoints. Collaborate with R&D, product, and engineering teams to ensure solutions are grounded in real customer needs. Facilitate workshops and present concepts that influence and align stakeholders. Champion inclusive, evidence-based design practices that drive commercial and customer value. What do I need? A strong blend of strategic thinking and hands-on technical capability in service design, with a track record of delivering impactful solutions. Practical experience working with AI and emerging technologies, ideally within data-rich environments. Deep expertise in user research, particularly in synthesising insights to inform product and service strategy. Experience across both corporate innovation and start-up environments, with the ability to navigate complex organisational structures. Proven ability to collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including R&D, Data Science, Product, and Engineering. A portfolio that demonstrates your ability to lead service design from discovery through delivery, using tools like Miro, Figma, and Jira. Additional information: We’re always looking to recognise and reward our employees for the work they do. As a valued member of The AA team, you’ll have access to a range of benefits including: 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays + holiday buying scheme Worksave pension scheme with up to 7% employer contribution Free AA breakdown membership from Day 1 plus 50% discount for family and friends Discounts on AA products including car and home insurance Employee discount scheme that gives you access to a car salary sacrifice scheme plus great discounts on healthcare, shopping, holidays and more Company funded life assurance Diverse learning and development opportunities to support you to progress in your career Dedicated Employee Assistance Programme and a 24/7 remote GP service for you and your family Plus, so much more! We’re an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from everyone. The AA values diversity and the difference this brings to our culture and our customers. We actively seek people from diverse backgrounds to join us and become part of an inclusive company where you can be yourself, be empowered to be your best and feel like you truly belong. We have five communities to bring together people with shared characteristics and backgrounds and drive positive change.
