Tax Manager – Top 100 Firm – North London

About the Company:

Our client is a full service, Top 100 firm of Chartered Accountants, with a modern office based in North London. They are recognised as one of the leading accountants for owner managed businesses in North London and beyond.

About the Opportunity:

Our client is seeking a full time Tax Manager with a minimum of 7 years’ practice experience. You will report directly into the partners and should be CTA qualified and able to deal with technical advisory work, tax technical queries from other departments and experience in reviewing complex tax returns. Their clients range from private individuals to owner managed businesses, entrepreneurs, charities, and large limited companies across a broad range of industries.

About the Responsibilities:

Joining as Tax Manager your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing, reviewing and submitting research and development (R&D) reports to HMRC.

• Inheritance tax and lifetime planning. Also advise on reliefs such as BPR

• Shares schemes such as EMI and CSOP and their implementation

• Treatment of expenditure for corporation tax purposes

• Capital allowances and use of allowances such as the Annual Investment Allowance.

• VAT implications of transactions

• Stamp Duty Land Tax and ATED, as well as the reliefs available from these taxes.

• Income tax, capital gains tax and inheritance tax planning for non-UK domiciled individuals

• Income tax reliefs such as loss relief and pension relief

• Capital gains tax reliefs such as entrepreneurs’ relief, principal private residence relief, rollover relief and gift relief.

• Venture capital schemes such as Enterprise Investment Scheme and Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme, as well as obtaining advanced assurance.

• Treatment of employment income and benefits in kind

• Anti-avoidance provisions such as transfer of assets abroad, gains attributed to UK resident individuals under s13 and s87 TCGA 1992 and transactions in securities

• Manage and add value to the firm’s business relationships.

• Identify and develop new business opportunities for the firm using existing business relationships, or by building and developing new opportunities for business development.

About the Applicant:

As the successful applicant, you will be:

• Have good communication skills and the confidence to liaise and build relationships with clients and other key personnel and senior management

• The ability to approach your work commercially enabling you to meet deadlines and budgets

• Self-motivated, use your initiative and have the ability to work with minimal supervision

• You will be responsible for your own portfolio of clients and will be expected to manage these through building client relationships, keeping open lines of communication to both the client and the partner with regard to any issues

• You will be responsible for the mentoring and training of staff.

• Able to demonstrate experience of previously working within a busy practice environment

• Excellent knowledge of CCH

• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office products essential
