Volunteer Social Media and Digital Content Officer

About the role

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain practical experience supporting Calum Miller MP's digital communications, helping communicate parliamentary and constituency work to residents and wider audiences.

We are looking for a volunteer to support the office's social media and digital output. You do not need prior political experience. What matters is that you understand how social media works and can create engaging video and graphic content.

If you have run socials for a school group, university society, campaign or built a strong personal account, this role could be for you.

What you will be doing

Working with Calum's team across Westminster and the constituency, including:

• Creating short-form tailored video for Instagram, Facebook and X using provided footage
• Editing clips and producing simple graphics using Canva, Veed, Capcut or similar tools
• Suggesting content ideas, formats and trends to grow reach and engagement
• Supporting the planning and scheduling of posts and maintaining a simple content calendar
• Helping communicate local issues affecting Bicester, Kidlington, Woodstock and surrounding villages
• Supporting content on national and foreign affairs, including parliamentary activity
• Occasionally capturing content at local events or visits
• Monitoring performance and flagging what is landing, what is not and what to try next

Who we are looking for

Essential

• Strong interest in politics and current affairs
• Confident using social platforms and a good instinct for what performs
• Demonstrable experience creating or editing video content (formal or informal)
• Reliable, organised and proactive

Desirable

• Familiarity with video editing tools
• Examples of graphic design or video editing work
• Connection to Bicester, Kidlington, Woodstock, Oxfordshire or the surrounding area
• Sympathetic to Liberal Democrat values

This is a flexible role designed to fit around education or other commitments. Reasonable travel expenses for agreed activities will be covered.
