The Opportunity:

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to work in one of the most exciting and growing sectors in the world - Africa’s Power Sector. The EnergyNet team is made up of around 20 people who are all passionate about the work we do in a supportive and collaborative environment. The candidate will work closely with the Head of Production to conceptualise, produce and deliver EnergyNet’s portfolio of events.

About EnergyNet

EnergyNet is a multiple award-winning and long running producer of investment conferences and news for Africa’s energy sector. Best known for the Africa Energy Forum, the longest running flagship forum for decision makers in Africa’s energy sector, which attracts over 25 Ministers of Energy and close to 3,000 participants each year. EnergyNet also produces region-specific investment meetings focusing on the power generation potential of some of the world’s most exciting emerging markets. Recent event locations include Cape Town, Nairobi, Barcelona, Washington, Accra and Livingstone.

About YES!

More recently, EnergyNet launched YES! This is a mission to empower the youth in Africa to succeed in with their careers in the energy sector and take their destiny into their own hands through access to knowledge and connections. In 2025 EnergyNet hosted the largest gathering (conference) of youth in the energy sector in the world with 6,000 young people registered to attend in Cape Town.

Key Responsibilities:

The Assistant Producer plays a pivotal role in the end-to-end lifecycle of events. You will work closely with production, sales, marketing, and operations teams to develop and deliver cutting-edge event agendas, this includes securing high-level speakers and ensuring excellent on-site delivery.

Content & Agenda Development

• Market Research: Conduct in-depth desk and in person research with industry professionals to identify emerging trends, market challenges, and hot topics.

• Agenda Drafting: Assist in structuring compelling, commercial conference agendas and writing engaging session descriptions.

• Session Ownership: Propose and manage interactive formats like panel discussions, keynote presentations, and roundtable sessions.

Speaker Acquisition & Management

• Sourcing Speakers: Identify, invite, and secure high-level subject matter experts, C-suite executives, Ministers, government officials and thought leaders.

• Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for speakers, managing all pre-event communication, presentation deadlines, and logistical needs.

Briefing :

• Prepare speaker briefing notes, conduct preparatory calls, and oversee on-site speaker management during the live event. Collaboration with Marketing, Sales and Operations Teams

• Marketing Support: Provide key content points, speaker quotes, and industry insights to the marketing team for promotional emails, reports and campaigns.

• Sales Alignment: Collaborate with delegate sales and sponsorship teams to ensure the program delivers tangible value to sponsors and attendees.

• Logistics & Operations: Work alongside the operations team to coordinate AV requirements, room layouts, catering, and delegate registration.

Knowledge, Skills & Behaviours:

  • S trong ability to grasp complex industry topics and translate them into commercially viable, audience-pulling agendas.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a flawless command of the English language for copywriting.

• Confidence in networking and negotiating with senior-level executives and industry stakeholders.

• Ability to manage competing deadlines, multi-task, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

• A passion to deliver high quality work through collaborative teamwork.

• Outstanding customer service skills delivered through engagement by phone and in person.

• Excellent attention to detail.

• Ability to work calmly under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

• Excellent team player.

• Language skills would be an advantage (French, Portuguese, Spanish) but not essential.

• An interest in Africa’s energy and infrastructure sector and a strong willingness to learn about the sector.

• Willingness and ability to travel internationally as required.
