Role Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and credible music, entertainment and events industry facilitator to take on the role of Industry, Careers and Alumni Officer. This role will suit someone who is passionate about the music and wider creative industries, is well-connected, with an enviable network of industry and artist links and has experience of working with record labels, music publishers, music marketing and promotion, live events, arranging work experience opportunities and organising industry-focused talks, panels and workshops. You will get your kicks by connecting people, promoting talent and making a real difference in early-stage music careers.

Key responsibilities

Talent Development, Monitoring & Mentoring :

  • You will be responsible for identifying and supporting our talented students - matching potential to relevant industry opportunities that can include external live performances, co-writing, session playing, live event management, promotion and other music and entertainment work-based opportunities.

  • Viewing LCCM as a talent incubator as well as an educational institute, you will manage the talent pipeline, providing guidance and mentorship to help students realise their potential.

  • Your aim will be to ensure that students benefit from an all-round college experience that prepares them for meaningful careers in the music industry.

Career Opportunities :

  • You will advise, collaborate with and assist our academic marketing, student support staff, students and graduates in identifying career opportunities, internships, and funding opportunities relevant to their music careers.

  • You will stay updated with industry trends and maintain strong connections with relevant organisations and stakeholders to provide the best support and guidance to our students.

Industry Partnerships and Engagement:

  • You will tap into our combined existing industry networks and forge new links to bring industry to LCCM whilst externally representing LCCM and our students - delivering opportunity, profile and prestige within the London and wider professional music and entertainment communities (including for instance opportunities to perform at hotels, on cruises and in resorts).

  • You will also manage regular industry masterclasses, influencer and industry partnerships and external showcases and similar initiatives that align with the college's objectives to nurture the talent pipeline and contribute to the overall success of the business.

Industry and Careers Communications:

  • You will manage and help find news stories, job opportunities and relevant events to highlight to students, alumni and other subscribers to our weekly FastTrack newsletter and via our new online careers, industry and alumni platform.

Alumni Relations:

  • You will manage the new online careers, industry and alumni platform to track outcomes and job movements from within our alumni network of recent and successful graduates.

  • You will build communications and connections to foster a strong sense of community among our graduates, creating a network that benefits both current students and alumni alike.

  • Through effective alumni relations, you will enhance the overall success and reputation of LCCM within the music industry.

Data and Reporting:

  • You will source, create and supply regular LCCM industry, careers and alumni progress data to your line manager that tracks measurable outcomes related to opportunities created, applied, interviewed, secured as well as the tracking of our industry connectivity and student / graduate response to the opportunities and events the department creates.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential :

  • First Degree, HND or equivalent in music, music business, live event management, culture management, or related creative industry or hospitality management discipline.

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the contemporary music and wider entertainment industry landscape, industry trends, and career opportunities.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with students, industry professionals, and external stakeholders.

  • Exceptional organisational and project management skills to oversee multiple initiatives simultaneously

  • Familiarity with marketing and communications principles and experience in reviewing and approving copy, design and related materials.

  • Proven experience in talent development, or related roles in the music industry.

  • Demonstrable success in providing guidance and mentorship to creative talent.

  • Established network of industry contacts and advanced music careers insight

  • Passion for music, entertainment, hospitality and a genuine interest in supporting and developing creative talent.

  • Entrepreneurial and commercial mindset with a proactive and innovative approach to problem-solving

  • Strong networking skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of people.

  • Flexibility and adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced and evolving environment

  • Ethical and professional conduct with a commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion

Desirable :

  • Master’s Degree in a relevant field

  • Proficiency in networking, data analysis and technology platforms to inform talent and business development strategies.

  • Ability to negotiate and establish partnerships with industry stakeholders

  • Knowledge of record label operations and publishing processes

  • Experience in music events and artist collaborations

  • Previous involvement in industry partnerships and outreach programs
