An exciting opportunity to join our SEND leadership team

We are seeking an enthusiastic, committed and experienced Deputy SENCO to join our dedicated and supportive team in a thriving school in South London.

This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate education professional who is committed to ensuring that children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) receive the highest quality support and are enabled to achieve their full potential.

Working closely with the SENCO, senior leaders, teachers, support staff, families and external professionals, the successful candidate will play an important role in the strategic and day-to-day leadership of SEND provision across the school.

The role

As Deputy SENCO, you will:

* Support the SENCO in the strategic development and implementation of the school's SEND provision.

* Help ensure that the school's SEND policy, provision and practice meet statutory requirements and reflect the needs of our pupils.

* Support the identification, assessment and monitoring of pupils with additional needs.

* Work closely with teachers and support staff to develop effective, inclusive classroom practice and appropriate interventions.

* Contribute to the development and review of SEND support plans and EHCP provision.

* Liaise effectively with parents and carers, building positive and trusting relationships.

* Work collaboratively with external agencies and professionals, including educational psychologists, speech and language therapists and other specialist services.

* Support the coordination and deployment of teaching assistants and other SEND support staff.

* Contribute to staff training and professional development around SEND and inclusion.

* Monitor the impact of interventions and use appropriate information and evidence to inform provision.

* Promote high expectations, inclusion, independence and positive outcomes for pupils with SEND.

We are looking for someone who:

* Has significant experience of working with pupils with SEND.

* Has a strong understanding of inclusive teaching and effective SEND provision.

* Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

* Is organised, proactive and able to manage competing priorities effectively.

* Can work confidently and collaboratively with colleagues, families and external professionals.

* Has high expectations for all pupils and a commitment to removing barriers to learning.

* Is reflective, solution-focused and committed to professional development.

* Is keen to develop their leadership experience within SEND.

A relevant SEND qualification and/or experience of working towards or holding the National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) would be desirable, although we would welcome applications from candidates with the appropriate experience and commitment to developing their professional expertise
