English Teacher - Camden | Prestigious Independent Senior...
We are working with a historic and highly academic independent senior school in Camden recruiting for a scholarly English Teacher. This institution is renowned for its literary heritage and provides an elite environment where intellectual curiosity and teacher autonomy are deeply valued as the cornerstones of educational success.
The School & Staff Culture This school prides itself on a culture of scholarship and refined professional respect. As a member of the English faculty, you will be welcomed into a collaborative environment where small class sizes (often averaging 12–15 pupils) allow for deep, seminar-style instruction. The leadership team understands that teachers are subject experts first; they ensure you are fully integrated into the school's rich academic and social fabric, providing a workspace that feels more like a university common room than a traditional school office.
The Role & Responsibilities Supporting the Head of English, you will deliver a sophisticated curriculum that prepares students for top-tier university entrance and a lifelong engagement with the humanities.
Academic Delivery: Teaching English Literature and Language from KS3 through to A-Level, with a focus on critical theory, classical texts, and contemporary global voices.
Oxbridge & Ivy League Preparation: Providing bespoke mentorship, mock interviews, and extension reading lists for students applying for English and related disciplines at the world's most elite universities.
Co-Curricular Impact: Leading the school’s prestigious Debating Society, overseeing the student-led literary magazine, or coordinating annual "Poetry Slams."
Assessment & Feedback: Utilising the school's sophisticated tracking systems to provide nuanced, high-level feedback that pushes high-attaining students toward top grades.
Requirements
Degree: A 1st Class or 2:1 degree in English or a related discipline from a leading university.
QTS: Mandatory for this permanent position.
Right to Work: Valid right to work in the UK is essential.

Salary Range: £40,317 – £62,496 (M1 – UPS3 equivalent)
