Director of Modern Slavery and Domestic Abuse (London)

Hestia Housing and Support
London

Interviews will take place on 15th October

We are Hestia. We make a difference.

At Hestia, we are guided by our core values and are dedicated to fostering an equitable, diverse, and inclusive organisation. Our mission is to empower individuals to rebuild their lives and achieve independence. Right now, we are looking for a Director of Modern Slavery and Domestic Abuse to play a pivotal role in our services.

Sounds great, what will I be doing?

We are seeking an experienced and passionate leader to oversee our survivor-focused services, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality support for people affected by modern slavery, exploitation and domestic abuse. This is a pivotal role with responsibility for safeguarding, operational excellence, service development and strategic leadership across a portfolio of complex services.

You will lead and inspire multidisciplinary teams to deliver trauma-informed, recovery-focused services that place survivors at the heart of everything we do. Working closely with commissioners, funders, prime contractors and partner organisations, you will ensure contractual and performance targets are consistently met while identifying opportunities to strengthen services, improve outcomes and drive innovation.

The successful candidate will take ownership of operational risk, quality assurance and financial performance, ensuring services are delivered safely, effectively and within budget. You will champion best practice, provide expert guidance on safeguarding and service delivery, and oversee the successful mobilisation of new contracts and services. As a senior leader, you will also play a key role in influencing policy, representing the organisation externally and contributing to the development of survivor-centred approaches across the wider sector.

This is an exciting opportunity for a strategic and values-driven leader who is committed to empowering survivors, leading meaningful change, and helping shape services that make a lasting difference to people's lives.

What do I need to bring with me?

You'll need to be able to demonstrate the core skills this role requires as well as match our values and mission. You don't have to tick all the boxes right away; the important thing is that you're willing to learn. We also value lived experience of the areas we support, so if you feel comfortable, please do mention this on your application.

We are looking for a strategic, resilient and solutions-focused leader with substantial senior management experience and a proven track record of leading high-performing services within the modern slavery and/or domestic abuse sector. You will bring extensive experience of managing complex operations, developing and inspiring teams, and delivering exceptional outcomes for service users in challenging environments.

You will have a strong understanding of trauma-informed practice and the ability to support managers and staff to respond effectively to complex needs while maintaining resilience and wellbeing. A skilled communicator and negotiator, you will be confident building relationships with internal and external stakeholders, influencing at senior levels and representing the organisation professionally.

The successful candidate will possess a thorough understanding of the legislative, regulatory and strategic frameworks that underpin domestic abuse, modern slavery, safeguarding and supported accommodation services. You will have significant experience in contract and budget management, quality assurance, performance monitoring and driving continuous service improvement through data, audits and outcome-focused approaches.

Highly organised and adaptable, you will be able to balance competing priorities, manage risk effectively and lead teams through change. Above all, you will be committed to delivering survivor-centred services, promoting equality, diversity and inclusion, maintaining high standards of health and safety, and contributing to a culture of continuous learning, innovation and excellence.
