Operations Director, Technical Maintenance Solutions
The opportunity
TCR Group, the global leader in Airport Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Services, is looking for an Operations Director to lead Technical Maintenance Solutions (TMS) at London Heathrow. This is a senior leadership position with full P&L responsibility, overseeing 158 employees and delivering exceptional service to our exclusive customer, British Airways.
With a planned succession in place, this role offers a unique chance to step into a highly visible and influential position, supported by a thorough handover and the backing of a strong leadership team.
It is a rare opportunity to make a lasting impact in one of the world’s most complex and dynamic airport environments.
A snapshot of what you will be doing here:
- Lead a 24/7 operation that keeps British Airways running smoothly at Heathrow.
- Shape and execute operational strategies that drive efficiency, service excellence, and long-term sustainability.
- Build trusted senior-level partnerships with a world-class customer.
- Inspire, coach, and develop a skilled workforce, ensuring a culture of accountability, engagement, and professional growth.
- Take full ownership of the P&L, resource allocation, and continuous improvement.
- Represent TCR and TMS at senior levels, contributing to both UK and Group-wide initiatives.
What Success Looks Like:
- You are seen by British Airways as a trusted and strategic partner.
- Your leadership team is engaged, empowered, and delivering results.
- You bring fresh perspectives that simplify processes and enhance performance.
- You strengthen TMS’s reputation as the partner of choice at Heathrow.
Who we're looking for:
- A proven operations leader with experience managing large teams in complex, unionised or industrial environments (e.g. manufacturing, transportation, logistics, production).
- Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach, comfortable balancing long-term vision with day-to-day demands.
- Strong communicator and relationship builder, with credibility at both workshop and boardroom levels.
- Solid commercial acumen, with experience managing budgets and delivering profitable results.
- Aviation experience is a plus, but not essential.
Why you'll love working with us:
- Impact from day one – a chance to shape operations at one of the world’s busiest airports.
- High visibility – working directly with senior leaders and a flagship customer.
- Autonomy with support – freedom to make decisions with the backing of a strong, collaborative team.
- Growth and development – a role that will stretch your leadership and strategic skills in a global organisation.
- Stability and succession – benefit from a in-depth handover and a multi-year contract with our customer.
The package:
- Competitive salary & benefits structure
- Company car or car allowance
- Private medical cover for you and your family
- Death in service cover
