Assistant Sustainability Manager As a Sustainability Manager at JLL, you will lead our clients and investors in achieving a sustainable future. You will develop and implement comprehensive sustainability action plans, playing a pivotal role in guiding clients towards net zero carbon. Your focus will include optimising energy efficiency, integrating renewable energy solutions, and significantly reducing emissions. You will leverage your expertise in reporting and data management to establish achievable sustainability objectives and actively engage stakeholders in energy efficiency and net zero carbon initiatives. Key responsibilities- Data Management and Analysis: Strong skills in data management, analysis, and reporting to tracking progress, assessing performance against targets, and providing insights for decision making.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration: The ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders such as site teams, FMs, PMs, AMs for identifying energy saving opportunities and fostering a collective commitment to achieving sustainability objectives.
- Energy Efficiency and Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of energy management practices, benchmarks and familiarity in energy/net zero audits, certifications (e.g., NABERS, BREEAM, EPC).
- Innovation Mindset: Staying up to date with emerging technologies and trends in energy efficiency, renewable energy, and emissions reduction to recommend and implement innovative solutions.
- Communication Skills: Strong communication skills (written, graphical and verbal) for effectively conveying recommendations, progress updates, and insights to clients and internal teams.
- Bachelor's degree in sustainability, energy management or a related field.
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in sustainability or a related field.
- Experience in real estate or property management industry.
- Good understanding of relevant frameworks such as SBTi, Greenhouse Gas Protocol, and sustainability policies.
- Familiarity with energy efficiency benchmarks and certifications (e.g., NABERS, REEB, UKGBC).
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis tools especially dealing with large portfolios/ big data.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks/ projects effectively.
- Developing and/ or implementing action plans to guide the client / investor's transition towards net zero carbon. This includes addressing energy efficiency, renewable energy adoption, emissions reduction projects.
- Prioritising buildings within portfolios by considering factors such as energy performance, retrofit potential, tenant requirements, and financial ROI.
- Thorough comprehension of GHG Protocol Scopes 1, 2, and 3 for measuring and managing greenhouse gas emissions.
- Overseeing the implementation of energy audits, net zero audits, ESOS audits, NABERS certification, and other energy/ net zero related activities in collaboration with internal and/or external stakeholders.
- Green Electricity Procurement & On-Site Renewables: understanding of green electricity procurement and guidance on developing on-site renewable energy solutions for properties.
- Actively participating in industry groups and sustainability committees, attending conferences, and contributing to various industry initiatives to foster industry engagement.
- Benchmarking and Data Analysis: Thorough understanding of industry benchmarks (e.g., REEB, UKGBC, CIBSE) combined with expertise in conducting data quality checks and calculating Energy Use Intensity (EUI) to accurately evaluate and compare energy performance.
- Having a thorough understanding of OPEX and CAPEX, including evaluating payback periods, to provide guidance to stakeholders on investment returns and effective cost management.
- Managing activities related to Portfolio EPC risk management providing guidance on strategies to achieve or surpass minimum energy efficiency standards (i.e., by utilising MEES compliance reports).
- Encouraging collaboration with site teams, such as FMs, PMs, AMs, tenants, and external consultants, to acquire insights into building management practices and identify potential areas for enhancement.
- Offering insights and recommendations on energy saving opportunities and working with relevant stakeholders to implement strategies for optimising energy performance. Collaborating closely to track progress and report energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions in accordance with best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborating on tenant engagement related to data collection, energy efficiency and net zero carbon transition.
- Managing data platforms to ensure smooth data flow between the energy bureau and the ESG data platform. Acting as the central connection point with site teams, conducting high level data validation, investigating significant discrepancies, and identifying abnormal EUI values based on data quality.
- Preparing quarterly energy reporting summaries for client and/or funds e.g., Scope 1, 2, 3 energy use and carbon emissions. Preparation of data to support ESG disclosure schemes.
