Beverage Experience Developer
We'll close applications for this role on 14th June 2025.
Hello potential future Oatly employee. It’s us, the original oat drink company that started in Sweden back 30 or so years ago.
Our mission? To make it easier for people to eat better and live healthier lives without throwing the planet under the bus in the process. If that makes you want to stand up, fist-pump, and shout, “Yes!”or even just a mild “Cool, I’m into that” , then maybe you’d like to join us. (Fun fact: we were recently voted one of 2024's best places to work for a small organisation.)
With that, let’s talk about the role.
The Role
Do you know the difference between matcha and sencha? Have you ever thought what would happen if you mixed tea, coffee, and Oatly? How about how those multi layered, stacked iced drinks on TikTok? Made one of them? Or all of them?
As Oatly rolls out our taste innovation strategy, we need a Beverage Experience Developer to lead the out-of-home (OOH) beverage world. This role goes beyond coffee, encompassing a wide range of drink development: including mixology, tea-based drinks, and keeping a pulse on emerging trends. You'll be highly creative, obsessed with what’s happening culturally, and keen to push the boundaries of taste and experience in the OOH food and drink sector.
- Develop innovative food & drink application recipes using Oatly products for OOH operators in the UK, spanning coffee, cocktails, smoothies, and beyond.
- Collaborate with consultant creators and internal teams to challenge the limits of plant-based beverage innovation.
- Proactively research and anticipate beverage industry trends, consumer preferences, and flavour profiles.
- Select and source customer-relevant development ingredients to stay ahead of the curve.
- Work closely with Barista Market Developers and Sales team to gather insights and align with customer needs.
- Conduct taste tests and gather feedback on new beverage concepts, including more experimental drinks for top-tier customers.
- Gather online engagement and sales data of launched recipes to inform future development.
As the role grows, you'll eventually present and pitch innovative drink concepts to customers and internally too.
Who You Are
If the below sounds like you, you could be the ideal person for this job:
- You've got experience in beverage development, whether through formal education, work experience, or personal projects.
- You've got excellent presentation and communication skills.
- You're comfortable working in a small, dynamic team with a high degree of autonomy and initiative. People would describe you as proactive, self motivated, and a trend spotter.
- You already know how food and drink spaces work practically – and what's possible and what's not possible in them logistically.
- People would call you highly curious, creative, and passionate to explore new experiences in the food and drinks world.
- You're collaborative, energetic, and positive, with strong relationship-building skills to influence people.
