EMRS Solution Architect
We have an exciting opportunity for an EMRS Solution Architect (Grade 11) to join our EMR Settlement (EMRS) Architecture and Design team on a permanent basis. This role is central to designing and delivering technical solutions that support the Contracts for Difference (CfD), Capacity Market (CM) and Nuclear Regulated Asset Base (RAB) schemes, ensuring our systems continue to evolve in line with business needs and architectural best practice.
You'll play a key role in shaping the technical direction of EMRS , working collaboratively with Business Analysts, Design Analysts, vendors and stakeholders to develop robust, scalable solutions. Combining technical expertise with strong stakeholder engagement, you'll help ensure our technology supports the delivery of critical settlement services that enable Great Britain's transition to Net Zero.
What you'll do:
As a Solution Architect , you'll work across the full solution lifecycle, translating business requirements into technical solutions that align with EMRS architecture principles and strategic objectives.
Design and develop technical solutions in collaboration with Business Analysts, Design Analysts and development teams to meet business requirements.
Create and maintain solution architecture documentation , ensuring designs align with EMRS architecture standards and governance.
Review vendor solution designs , providing technical assurance that proposed solutions adhere to enterprise architecture principles.
Develop a strong understanding of application, data, infrastructure and cloud architecture , balancing technical capability with business outcomes.
Conduct impact assessments for change requests, identifying technical risks, dependencies and opportunities for improvement.
Work closely with internal teams and external vendors to ensure successful delivery of technology solutions across the EMRS portfolio.
Support the delivery of the EMRS Technology Roadmap , ensuring new capabilities align with long-term architectural direction.
Provide technical support for complex customer and stakeholder queries, working with Design Analysts to resolve architecture-related issues.
Build strong relationships across EMRS, Elexon, vendors and key stakeholders to enable successful cross-functional delivery.
Champion architecture best practice , promoting consistency, quality and continuous improvement across the function.
What you'll bring:
We're looking for someone who combines strong technical knowledge with excellent collaboration and problem-solving skills, and who enjoys working across both business and technology teams.
Experience designing solution architectures within complex enterprise technology environments.
A strong understanding of application, infrastructure, cloud and data architecture principles.
Experience reviewing technical designs and ensuring solutions align with enterprise architecture standards .
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess technical impacts and recommend pragmatic solutions.
Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical colleagues.
Experience working across the full project or product lifecycle , from initial design through to implementation and operational support.
Experience using Sparx Enterprise Architect , or similar modelling tools, alongside Azure DevOps, Jira or equivalent delivery tools.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to different audiences.
A proactive, collaborative approach and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable experience
Knowledge of the Contracts for Difference (CfD), Capacity Market (CM) or Nuclear RAB schemes.
An understanding of the Balancing and Settlement Code (BSC) and wider GB electricity market arrangements.
Experience with Microsoft Azure and cloud-based technologies.
A TOGAF , BCS Practitioner Certificate in Enterprise and Solution Architecture , or equivalent professional qualification.
A background in solution design, software development or data architecture.
