Location: London/Hybrid
Salary: £60,000 plus benefits

Are you an experienced Personal Tax professional looking for a role where you can genuinely build long-term client relationships rather than simply process tax returns?

Our client, a friendly and well-established accountancy practice, is looking for a Client Portfolio Tax Manager to take ownership of a varied portfolio of personal tax clients. This is an excellent opportunity to join a close-knit team where you'll enjoy autonomy, client contact and the chance to contribute to the continued growth and development of the practice.

The Role

You'll be responsible for managing your own portfolio of clients, acting as their trusted adviser while ensuring personal tax compliance is delivered accurately and on time. Working closely with the partners and wider team, you'll provide practical tax advice, oversee deadlines and billing, and help maintain the firm's excellent reputation for client service.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing a portfolio of personal tax clients including individuals, landlords, company directors, sole traders and high-net-worth individuals.
• Preparing and reviewing Self-Assessment tax returns, partnership returns and trust returns.
• Preparing P11Ds and PSA calculations.
• Calculating tax liabilities and advising clients on payments, tax positions and compliance matters.
• Managing HMRC correspondence, enquiries and client queries.
• Identifying tax planning opportunities and providing practical advice on areas such as capital gains, residency and inheritance tax where appropriate.
• Working with the accounts and outsourcing teams to ensure information is obtained efficiently.
• Supporting junior team members through training and review where required.
• Contributing to improvements in internal processes, systems and templates.

About You

We're looking for someone who enjoys working closely with clients and takes pride in delivering an exceptional level of service.

You'll ideally have:

• Experience managing a personal tax portfolio within a UK accountancy practice.
• Strong technical knowledge of Self-Assessment, Capital Gains Tax and personal tax compliance.
• Experience dealing with HMRC enquiries and more complex personal tax matters.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical tax issues in plain English.
• The confidence to manage client relationships from start to finish.
• Experience using tax software (TaxCalc would be advantageous).
• ATT or CTA qualification is preferred, although qualified by experience candidates will also be considered.
