Ophthalmology Consultant
Contract Type: Locum
Salary: £100
Job Type: Full time
Consultant Ophthalmologist with significant experience in the management and treatment of Corneal / External Diseases.
About You
You're a clinically confident Ophthalmology Consultant with strong surgical skills and up‑to‑date knowledge across general ophthalmology and cataract surgery. You value teamwork, communicate clearly and take pride in delivering a positive patient experience.
You're committed to maintaining high standards of care, working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and contributing to continuous service improvement.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
- Minimum six months recent NHS experience
- Strong cataract surgery experience and broad general ophthalmology competence
- Evidence of ongoing continuous professional development
- Clear and confident communication skills
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Compassionate, patient‑centred approach
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Subspecialty interest such as oculoplastic, cornea, glaucoma or medical retina
- Experience contributing to ophthalmology service development
- Teaching or supervisory experience
- Involvement in audit, quality improvement or research activity
