Head of Bridging Finance

City + Capital are currently representing an established and well–respected real estate finance lender who have retained our services to appoint a confident and ambitious Head of Bridging at an exciting time.

This role best suits an experienced BDM or current Head Of/Sales Director skillset.

Our client is expanding their product portfolio to meet the needs and demands of borrowers undertaking real estate development and investment projects.

This is therefore an exciting opportunity to take a senior seat within an established lender and will play an integral part in their ongoing growth journey.

The Company

Our client is renowned for supporting property developers and investors with access to funds for important real estate projects.

Offering institutional–grade funding solutions, they have recently secured additional institutional funding to expand and grow their bridging finance offerings, and to make the bridging finance proposition a 'standalone' business unit within its own right.

This is a key growth area for the firm, in a market that has just surpassed the GBP10bn mark.

Our client is well–positioned to capture this growth but are actively seeking strong experience from the bridging sector for this key hire.

Role Overview

Our client has already secured their funding lines for bridging finance and has developed a small range of products for distribution. A key part of your role in the first year will be to work with brokers and borrowers to distribute the funds and to grow the initial loan book.

However, in year one, there will be much more variety and aspects to achieve within the role. This is where you will work closely with the board and other senior leaders in terms of developing and enhancing the bridging proposition. EG:

• Work with the board to devise & execute the bridging strategy in all aspects
• Enhance & optimise current & new products that meet the needs of borrowers
• Liaise with funding partners throughout to ensure alignment to agreements
• Oversee market research, product development, product marketing & reporting
• Upskill/cross train existing team members to understand & deliver bridging loans
• Proactively seek to distribute funds via the network of brokers and introducers
• Attend a broad range of meetings, events and stakeholder sessions as face of business
• Agree processes across the cycle, origination – completion & portfolio management
• Liaise with other senior business leaders on shared lending opportunities

Determine the resource required for the team & hire across the lending cycle

Once established, you will continue to drive continuous improvement in the areas outlined and will ensure the business is always ahead of the curve as to the needs of borrowers in the short–term space.

In addition, you would also expect to:

• Continue to enhance & optimise the bridging business & drive towards targets
• Oversee and grow the team in line with success and demand
• Take on and achieve the company lending target for bridging finance
• Liaise with other senior business leaders on shared lending opportunities
• The main face of the lending business for bridging finance

The ideal individual for this role be an experienced business development professional who is comfortable working with brokers, already has a strong understanding of the bridging market and what it takes to deliver solutions for the core borrower set.

Additionally, you will have a demonstrable track record of achieving lending objectives or delivering good lending volumes with current or previous roles.

It is important to note that our client does not expect you have to have achieved everything in the role profile.

The directors are willing and capable of training you in areas that you have yet to experience or have not done as frequently. This may be product development, marketing, underwriting etc

Crucial is the ambition to build something special and the confidence to do this with support.

Candidate Requirements

• Highly experienced in bridging finance, ideally in an origination capacity
• A proven track record of hitting lending objectives and/or targets
• A strong reputation with industry brokers, introducers and borrowers
• Good working knowledge of current bridging trends and property markets
• Self–motivated, resilient and results–driven: 'rolling up my sleeves' approach
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to deadlines
• Comfortable attending networking events, expanding yours and company reach

On Offer

Our client is ideally looking to pay up to cGBP100k as a basic salary, relevant to experience. Higher offers may be considered for exceptional talent.

Bonus will be bespoke, but sizeable, and agreed with you as part of the process. This is expected to be uncapped and will drive a significant OTE and take home.
