Management Accountant

Harper May is working with an independent asset management firm managing multi-billion pound portfolios across equities and alternatives. The business has grown steadily over the past five years, with a strong institutional client base and a reputation for rigorous investment discipline. Following recent portfolio expansion, the firm is strengthening its finance function to support more granular performance reporting and enhanced financial controls across the business.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will own the preparation and delivery of management accounts, lead month-end close activities, and support financial planning across investment and operations teams. The position sits within a lean but growing finance team and requires both technical rigour and the ability to influence senior investment professionals in a fast-paced environment.

* Produce monthly management accounts with detailed variance analysis and supporting commentary

* Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliation of key balance sheet accounts

* Support annual budgeting and quarterly reforecasting exercises across the business

* Develop and maintain financial dashboards and ad-hoc reporting for investment and operational leadership

* Manage relationships with external auditors and prepare for statutory and regulatory submissions

* Review operating expenses and support identification of cost control opportunities

What we are looking for

* ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified, or currently working towards a relevant qualification

* Prior experience in asset management, fund accounting, or a similar investment services environment

* Competence in producing management accounts and financial analysis within a regulated setting

* Proficiency in Excel and financial reporting tools; familiarity with reporting platforms is a plus

* Methodical approach to financial control and attention to detail

* Comfortable presenting findings to non-finance stakeholders
