Service Controller
Service Controller Location: Orpington Salary: £40,(Apply online only) - £50,(Apply online only) + Benefits NEOS Engineering Recruitment are working with a well-established and growing plant hire business who are looking to appoint an experienced Service Co-ordinator to join their engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and proactive individual with experience in plant hire, construction equipment, engineering or fleet maintenance who is looking to take the next step in their career. The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating engineers, managing customer breakdowns and ensuring planned servicing and repairs are completed efficiently. The Role As a Service Co-ordinator, you will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination of the engineering and service operation. Working closely with engineers, customers, suppliers and the wider depot team, you will ensure breakdowns, servicing and repairs are planned and managed from initial call through to completion. Key Responsibilities Coordinating and scheduling engineers for planned servicing, maintenance and breakdown repairs. Taking customer breakdown calls and gathering accurate information on equipment faults. Allocating engineers based on location, availability, experience and equipment requirements. Managing engineer diaries and prioritising reactive and planned work. Monitoring outstanding jobs and ensuring repairs are progressed through to completion. Liaising with customers regarding engineer attendance, repair progress and timescales. Working closely with engineers to understand faults, parts requirements and repair requirements. Arranging parts and liaising with suppliers where required. Raising and updating job cards, work orders and service records. Ensuring engineering paperwork and service reports are completed accurately. Monitoring planned maintenance and servicing schedules across the hire fleet. Arranging external contractors or specialist support where required. Maintaining accurate maintenance and repair records. Supporting the workshop and depot team to ensure equipment is maintained and available for hire. Providing a professional and responsive service to customers throughout the repair process. The Candidate The successful Service Co-ordinator will ideally have previous experience within plant hire, construction equipment, engineering, fleet maintenance or a similar environment. You will be highly organised, confident communicating with engineers and customers, and comfortable managing multiple jobs and priorities at the same time. Previous experience in a service coordination or engineering administration role would be advantageous, although candidates from an engineering background who are looking to move into a coordination position will also be considered. You may currently be working as a: Service Co-ordinator Service Controller Workshop Controller Workshop Planner Engineering Co-ordinator Fleet Co-ordinator Maintenance Co-ordinator Service Administrator Hire Controller Plant Hire Administrator Workshop Supervisor Senior Plant Engineer / Plant Fitter You Will Ideally Have Experience coordinating engineers, technicians or mobile service teams. Good understanding of plant, machinery or engineering maintenance. Experience dealing with breakdowns, servicing and repairs. Strong planning and organisational skills. Ability to prioritise multiple jobs in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Good IT and administration skills. Strong attention to detail. A proactive approach to problem solving. The ability to remain calm and organised under pressure.
