FUNDING: SWL Healthy Weight Small Grants - apply by 2 Sep
If your South West London community or voluntary sector organisation works with those who have learning disabilities, are experiencing mental health illness, or who are in specified deprived communities, you could be eligible for a small grant to help gather insights on maintaining and reaching a healthy weight.
As part of their Healthy Weight programme, NHS South West London is looking to offer grants of £500 to voluntary sector groups to host ‘community conversations’ with up to 10 local residents at a time who are living with being overweight or obesity.
Eight £500 grants are available across South West London, as follows:
- 2 grants for VCSEs anywhere in South West London who can reach and have experience of working with people who have learning disabilities and/or people experiencing serious mental illness
- 6 grants for groups across South West London (1 per borough) that can reach and have experience of working with communities in the below areas who are known to be often underserved, less likely to engage, and/or are part of our most deprived communities, including the NHS CORE20 population:
Borough | Ward | Communities of interest |
Croydon | Broad Green or Thornton Heath | South Asian, Black Caribbean, Black African and White British communities |
Sutton | The Wrythe | South Asian, Black Caribbean, Black African and White British communities |
Merton | Pollards Hill or Long Thornton | Black Caribbean, Black African and White British communities |
Wandsworth | Roehampton or Latchmere | South Asian, Black Caribbean, Black African, White British and Eastern European communities |
Kingston | Hook and Chessington North | White British, South Asian and Black African communities |
Richmond | North Hampton or Whitton | South Asian, White British and Eastern European communities |
In addition to the £500 grant, participants will be offered a £30 voucher as a ‘thank you’ for their time and input.
The fund aims to:
- gather insights on people’s experiences of trying to maintain and reach a healthy weight (including views on weight loss drugs), awareness of support available/support received, and how this could be improved in the future
- provide participants with advice and resources on maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
An online information session will be held on Friday 22 August, 10am-11am.
To register for the session and for any further questions regarding the application, please email Thomas Herweijer at South West London ICB.
The closing date for applications is Tuesday 2 September 2025.
Decisions will be made and advised to all applicants by Friday 5 September 2025,
Focus groups can start from the 8 September and need to be delivered by 5 October 2025, with monitoring to be returned by 10 October 2025.
An online meeting will be set up with successful applicants to discuss these requirements.
