Senior Civil Engineer
Senior Civil Engineer Location: Waterloo, London (Hybrid - minimum 3 days per week in the office) Rate: £40-£50 per hour Contract Length: Initial 3 months IR35 Status: Outside IR35 Are you a Senior Civil Engineer with strong drainage and infrastructure design experience looking for your next opportunity in London? We are looking for an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join a growing team based in Waterloo. The preference is to appoint someone on a permanent basis, although the right contract candidate will also be considered. For contractors, the role will initially be offered on a 3-month basis, outside IR35, with a minimum requirement of three days per week in the Waterloo office. The role will suit an experienced civil engineer with a strong background in drainage design who is comfortable taking ownership of technical designs, Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategy reports, as well as managing approvals and liaising directly with statutory authorities. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver civil engineering and drainage designs for development projects.
- Produce surface water and foul drainage designs and calculations.
- Prepare Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs) and Drainage Strategy reports.
- Develop and coordinate designs using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Undertake drainage modelling using Causeway FLOW.
- Use SmartTools as part of the drainage and infrastructure design process.
- Manage technical submissions and approvals with statutory authorities.
- Liaise directly with water companies, local authorities and other relevant stakeholders.
- Manage and support applications and agreements including Section 104, Section 106 and Section 185.
- Coordinate civil engineering designs with other disciplines and external consultants.
- Review designs and ensure compliance with relevant UK standards and project requirements.
- Provide technical input and support to other members of the project team.
- Strong experience within civil engineering and infrastructure design.
- Excellent drainage design experience, including foul and surface water networks.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Experience using Causeway FLOW and SmartTools.
- Proven experience preparing Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategy reports.
- Strong experience dealing directly with statutory authorities and approval bodies.
- Good working knowledge of S104, S106 and S185 agreements and approval processes.
- Able to independently manage and deliver civil engineering design packages.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Highways design experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline would be preferred.
