Join Our Team as Head of IT!

NCP is looking for an experienced and commercially minded Head of IT to lead a period of significant transformation across our technology function. This is an opportunity for someone who thrives on simplifying complex environments, driving meaningful change and delivering practical, cost-effective solutions that support the wider business.

This role is initially a 12-month fixed-term contract, with the opportunity to make a lasting impact by modernising our IT estate, standardising processes and ensuring our technology function is fit for the future.

What You'll Be Doing

• Lead the simplification and standardisation of IT processes across the business, ensuring they are efficient, scalable and aligned to business needs.

• Oversee major infrastructure programmes and ensure successful delivery whilst maintaining operational stability.

• Review our existing IT estate, evaluate alternative solutions and make recommendations on the future platform strategy.

• Drive commercial value by identifying opportunities to reduce costs, improve efficiencies and optimise technology investments.

• Manage key IT suppliers and contracts, ensuring value for money and strong service delivery.

• Work closely with the Finance Director to develop robust business cases, manage budgets and ensure technology decisions support wider commercial objectives.

• Build strong relationships across the Executive Team and wider business, ensuring IT is viewed as a trusted business partner.

• Lead and develop a lean IT team, bringing colleagues on the transformation journey whilst maintaining high levels of engagement and performance.

• Provide pragmatic leadership, removing unnecessary complexity and ensuring the IT function is focused on delivering value.

Requirements

This role requires an experienced IT leader who combines strong technical understanding with excellent commercial and leadership skills. The successful candidate will:

• Have significant experience leading IT functions through periods of transformation.

• Have successfully delivered large-scale infrastructure and technology change programmes.

• Possess strong commercial acumen, including supplier management, contract negotiation and cost optimisation.

• Be confident working alongside senior stakeholders, particularly Finance, to develop business cases and support investment decisions.

• Have experience evaluating enterprise infrastructure technologies, including virtualisation platforms such as VMware.

• Be an excellent communicator with the ability to influence and build credibility across all levels of the organisation.

• Be comfortable leading a lean team and creating an environment where people embrace change.

• Have a practical, hands-on approach and enjoy solving problems rather than creating unnecessary complexity.

• Be resilient, decisive and capable of delivering results in a fast-paced commercial environment.

Ideal Experience

The successful candidate is likely to have worked within multi-site, customer-facing organisations such as Facilities Management, Retail, Transport, Logistics or similar sectors where operational resilience and commercial performance are critical.

Experience of leading infrastructure modernisation, IT operating model improvements, vendor consolidation and technology simplification programmes will be highly advantageous.

This is not a role for someone looking to build a larger department. We are looking for a pragmatic leader who can simplify, optimise and leave the IT function in a stronger position than they found it.
