To support a growing team of 200+ BIGsters based in our London studio, we are now looking for a proactive and ambitious IT Assistant to join our Operations team.


The ideal candidate must have some experience within IT support, desktop, and network troubleshooting and setup. You must have an interest in working across a broad range of technologies and the ability to troubleshoot a wide variety of issues. You will be reporting directly to the IT Manager in the London office, though the role also involves working closely with the IT teams based in our Copenhagen and New York offices. You must be committed to working in a self-motivated and collaborative manner, with a desire to continually learn and develop within a fast-paced environment.



Primary areas of responsibility:
  • Provide direct IT support to all BIG London staff in a professional and approachable manner
  • Identify, categorise, prioritise, diagnose and resolve service incidents and service requests for the BIG London office, including but not limited to software, hardware, Microsoft Office 365, printers, scanners, telephone systems, Entra ID, Sharepoint, Adobe Creative Cloud, and a range of standard software applications within the architecture industry
  • Set up of new desktops, laptops and peripherals for staff
  • Troubleshoot network and server issues, provide regular maintenance as required
  • Create and deploy new software installations
  • Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot video conference software and hardware
  • Document the constantly changing software and hardware inventory
  • Ensure all service requests and incidents are accurately recorded and managed in the Service Desk's incident management system
  • Communicate relevant updates to, and set clear service expectations with the IT Manager
  • Participate in a monthly on-call rotation to provide support coverage during weekends when required
  • Monthly on-call rotation to cover support may be required to help the business during low support levels
Required skills and experience:
  • 1–3 years’ relevant experience working in a professional office environment
  • Strong organisation, prioritisation, and multi-tasking skills with good attention to detail
  • Proactive way of working, with ability to complete tasks with a sense of urgency
  • Feels that no task is too little or too great; a positive, can-do attitude to problem-solving
  • A natural people-person who enjoys a busy and creative environment
  • Clear and concise English written and verbal communication skills
This job description reflects the core activities of the role, although there will be changes in the emphasis of duties as required from time to time. There is a requirement for the post-holder to recognise this and adopt a flexible approach to work.

This is a full-time position based out of BIG’s London office. Working together and collaborating in the same space is integral to our culture, so all our staff are expected to work from the office every day.


Salary will be subject to experience and qualifications. Relevant applicants will be interviewed on an on-going basis, as we are seeking to fill this vacancy as soon as possible.



Please note that the salary banding for this role falls below the standard salary requirement (referred to in the immigration guidance as the “general threshold”) for a Skilled Worker Visa (which is currently £38,700). The standard salary requirements do not apply to all applicants for a Skilled Worker Visa, and there are a range of other immigration routes to the UK which an applicant may be eligible for depending on their personal circumstances.
