Deputy Features Editor (Stylist)

About the Role:
Stylist is looking for a Deputy Features Editor to join the editorial team.
Reporting to the Features Director and working closely with our team of writers, you will bring experience editing and writing high quality features for a digital publication and driving subscription growth through exceptional editorial content.
This role demands strong writing and editing skills, the ability to collaborate, strong idea generation, and a deep understanding of what our audience wants from paywall content.
The successful candidate will also have an instinctive understanding of how to serve the Stylist reader and will uphold our purpose to help women through the work that we do. An understanding of the topics that appeal to our audience – from feminism through to fashion – is also essential, as is the ability to create, commission and edit outstanding content.
What to expect:
Working with the Features Director and alongside the broader Stylist editorial team, you'll be shaping the weekly content plan for Stylist+ and taking ownership of writing, commissioning and editing a portion of the articles. You’ll keep a close eye on data to ensure our ambitious growth targets are being hit and be ready to jump in and tweak an article according to best practices for social media and SEO.
Responsibilities:
- To commission and edit Stylist ’s paywall content, working with internal writers and freelancers to ensure everything meets the high standards held by Stylist
- To generate ideas for the weekly content plan
- To foster a deep understanding of subscriber preferences and behaviours, utilising insights to enhance user engagement and satisfaction within the paywall ecosystem
- To be adept at spotting new trends and conversation points as they emerge, and make sure Stylist is at the forefront of these focal points.
- To work with the paywall content editorial team and membership and subscriptions teams to ensure ambitious KPIs and deadlines are met
Requirements
Essential:
- Well-versed in digital SEO skills and a knowledge of social media to ensure all content is reaching the target audience as required
- Skilled at commissioning, editing, and writing copy for the Stylist+ audience
- The ability to work collaboratively and creatively with the wider editorial team
- A real passion for Stylist+ content and an enthusiasm for coming up with fresh ideas
- To be well-organised and able to juggle lots of different deadlines whilst working at pace
- Accuracy and attention to detail
Beneficial:
- Knowledge of and experience in content behind a paywall
- An in-depth understanding of the Stylist brand
- Experience in growing a paid subscription base

This is a full-time, permanent position, working 35 hours per week from our London, Fleet Street Office. At Stylist, we offer a hybrid working model.
