Wellbeing Manager
About LIS
The challenges humanity faces today are not distant concerns from dystopian novels or hypothetical scenarios in textbooks. They are real, pressing, and profoundly complex.
Unfortunately, the traditional higher education system has not evolved to address this reality. By operating in disciplinary silos, it leaves graduates ill-equipped to navigate and address the interwoven challenges of the 21st century.
At The London Interdisciplinary School (LIS), we’re rethinking higher education from the ground up. We equip students with an interdisciplinary toolkit designed to confront the intricate problems shaping our world—problems that don’t adhere to neat academic boundaries.
With a world-class faculty, five pioneering cohorts, and partnerships with global organisations, LIS is more than a university. It’s a movement. A place where bold thinkers can learn how to shape the world, not just fit in.
As the first UK educational institution in 50 years to be granted full degree-awarding powers since inception, we are redefining what higher education can be. From our innovative Bachelor's, Master's and MBA to our professional development programmes, LIS represents a ground-breaking approach to education designed for those ready to tackle the complexity of tomorrow, today.
The Role
As Wellbeing Manager, you will lead the delivery of our student wellbeing provision. This includes holding a caseload of students and providing tailored support, both for those with diagnosed mental health conditions and those facing undiagnosed or emerging difficulties. You will lead on early intervention, manage crisis responses, and coordinate with external services, while ensuring students are safely supported throughout their academic journey.
You’ll have the opportunity to shape and evolve the wellbeing service, working closely with academic, operational, and safeguarding colleagues to ensure it remains fit for purpose acting as the institution’s expert.

- Design and run group interventions, peer-led initiatives, and proactive wellbeing events
- Monitor wellbeing trends and advise on evolving needs across undergraduate and postgraduate cohorts.

- Ensure that student support services align with relevant legislation, ethical practice, and sector guidance.
- Support the Student Voice Committee as a staff representative.
- Represent wellbeing services in the bursary panel and Extenuating Circumstances Panel.
- Co-lead the academic tutoring framework to ensure seamless integration between academic and pastoral support.
- Lead wellbeing related projects, including service development, digital tools, and evaluation metrics.
- Serve as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Officer (DDSL), supporting the institution’s safeguarding responsibilities.
- Collaborate on staff safeguarding training and refresher modules.
- Support policy development and review alongside the SSM and COO.
- Manage the LIS wellbeing service, including operations, student engagement, and service evaluation.
- Collaborate with other teams on student support frameworks, hardship cases, and inclusion initiatives.
- Contribute to wider structural reviews and service planning to keep LIS agile and responsive.
- Actively participate in relevant professional networks (e.g. UMHAN) and stay abreast of sector developments.
- Deputise for the Student Success Manager.
