Editor
Become a central figure for the editorial success of EMJ, AMJ, and EMJ Learning. You'll be the go-to person for medical insights, and be responsible for ensuring and upholding the gold-standard quality of our content across all platforms, ranging from journals to podcasts. Your tactical vision will drive audience growth and engagement, as you nurture strong relationships with key opinion leaders and Editorial Boards, and oversee a peer review process that sets the industry standard.

Expectations
- Experienced and Qualified: You bring 8+ years of experience at manger level , in medical or healthcare publishing, and hold a medical science-related degree (a Master's or PhD is preferred).
- A natural leader and mentor: You have experience in coaching and developing an editorial team of eight or more, working with them to create exceptional content while continually improving processes and standards.
- A meticulous professional with a commitment to quality: Your high standards for quality and ethics are non-negotiable. You are diligent about monitoring journal standards and ensuring compliance with regulations like ABPI.
- A strategic and innovative thinker: You are forward-thinking, keeping up to date with the latest medical innovations. You're eager to develop and execute new content strategies that support brand growth and keep our readership engaged.
- A digitally minded expert: You understand the importance of a strong digital presence and are exceptional at leading SEO best practices to expand our audience and impact.
- A collaborative leader and communicator: You are a confident communicator who can share insights, learnings, and challenges with a management team, contributing directly to the company's future direction.
What you'll do
- Lead and Mentor the Editorial Team: Work with and mentor the editorial team to deliver exceptional content. You will continually develop and improve processes to ensure all staff meet the required standards.
- Ensure Gold-Standard Quality & Compliance: Be responsible for monitoring journal standards and implementing quality-control procedures. You'll ensure the team is trained and abides by ethical publishing standards and ABPI compliance.
- Strategise and Innovate Content: Have your finger on the pulse of new medical innovations to develop and execute content strategies that are suitable for our readership and support the wider brand.
- Drive Brand Expansion: Play a key role in helping the company launch and establish additional journals, including new publications in the US.
- Elevate Digital Presence: Lead on SEO best practices for all published articles, ensuring our content reaches the widest possible audience and drives engagement.
- Contribute to Company Management: Act as a part of the company’s management team, regularly sharing insights, learnings, successes, and challenges to help shape our future direction.
Key Information
- Salary: £70,000 - £75,000
- Hours: 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, Mon-Fri
- Working pattern: Up to 2 days flexibility to work from home (FT in office during probation)
- Reporting to: Editorial Director
- Location: Our buzzing London/Moorgate office
We offer a hybrid work environment, balancing office and remote work. To support your training and development during your initial three-month probation, this period will be fully office-based, five days a week. Following this, we anticipate a regular office presence of at least three days a week to maintain collaboration and team connection.
