Marchant Recruitment
London

Job Title: Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teacher

Location: Ealing, West London

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

Start Date: ASAP

Salary: MPS / UPS + SEN Allowance

Role Overview

An inclusive and dedicated special school in Ealing is seeking a compassionate and creative SEN Teacher to join its specialist teaching staff. This full-time, permanent position involves planning and delivering a highly adapted, sensory-rich curriculum to pupils with complex Special Educational Needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and Speech, Language & Communication Needs (SLCN).

The position is ideal for an experienced SEN teacher or a passionate mainstream teacher looking to transition into a specialized SEN setting. Key Responsibilities & Requirements

  • Curriculum & Lesson Planning: Design and deliver personalized, differentiated learning activities that align with pupils' individual Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and custom assessment frameworks.

  • Classroom & Team Leadership: Lead and deploy a team of classroom SEN Teaching Assistants effectively to ensure targeted 1:1 and small-group support.

  • Communication & Regulation: Utilize augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) strategies, visual schedules, PECS, and Makaton to promote pupil voice and emotional regulation.

  • Multi-Agency Collaboration: Work closely with Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Educational Psychologists, and parents to review EHCP targets and monitor holistic development.

  • Qualifications & Skills: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or PGCE, proven experience or strong interest in special educational needs, excellent classroom management, and a clear Enhanced DBS check.

School & Department Highlights

  • Specialist Learning Environment: Purpose-built facilities including sensory integration rooms, soft-play areas, and extensive outdoor learning spaces.

  • Collaborative Support: High staff-to-pupil ratios with dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants in every classroom and full-time therapy teams on site.

  • Professional Growth: Extensive ongoing CPD in specialized SEN approaches (including Team-Teach, TEACCH, and PECS training) and clear career progression pathways.
