About the Position

A welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Hackney, East London , is currently recruiting a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with additional learning needs. This is a full-time, long-term role offering stability, development, and the chance to work within a well-established SEN support framework.

The role involves supporting pupils across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 with a variety of needs, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language delays, and mild learning difficulties . Some pupils have EHCPs, while others require targeted intervention and emotional support throughout the school day.

Your Role as an SEN Teaching Assistant

You will play a vital role in ensuring SEN pupils are able to access the curriculum and thrive socially and emotionally. Key duties include:

  • Providing tailored 1:1 support to pupils with SEN

  • Supporting small group interventions in literacy, numeracy, and social skills

  • Assisting pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour management

  • Implementing personalised learning strategies

  • Supporting classroom routines and transitions

  • Working closely with teachers to differentiate lessons

  • Supporting pupils during break times to promote positive social interaction

  • Monitoring progress and providing feedback to teaching staff

  • Helping pupils develop independence and resilience

  • Maintaining a safe and supportive environment at all times
