DT Technician | Practical & Technical Role | Brent
If you're someone who enjoys making, building, fixing and working with practical equipment, this could be an excellent next step.
An Outstanding Ofsted-rated secondary school in Brent is recruiting a DT Technician to support its Design & Technology Department from October 2026.
Rather than being purely administrative, this is a genuinely hands-on position. You’ll be involved in preparing practical work, looking after workshop equipment and helping teachers create an effective environment for students to develop their practical skills.
A Typical Week Could Include
Preparing materials and equipment for upcoming lessons
Setting up machinery and practical workspaces
Supporting students and teachers during practical sessions
Maintaining tools and specialist DT equipment
Keeping workshops tidy and properly organised
Checking machinery and reporting faults
Managing stock and ordering materials
Ensuring equipment is stored correctly
Supporting the department with health and safety
Experience
We’re open to candidates from a range of practical backgrounds. Previous experience as a DT Technician is ideal, but experience in engineering, manufacturing, carpentry, product design, construction or a similar technical environment could also be relevant.
You should be confident using workshop equipment, take safety seriously and be able to manage your own workload effectively.
