Graduate English Teaching Assistant: Candidate Specification

We’re looking for a Graduate English Teaching Assistant who holds:

• Has a 2:1 or above in English, English Literature, Creative Writing, or a closely related degree
• Studied at a Top 30 or Russell Group university
• Has a genuine interest in education, teaching, and child development
• Is confident, enthusiastic, and able to build rapport with students
• Has excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ideally has some experience working with young people (e.g. tutoring, mentoring, volunteering, summer camps)
• Is considering a career in teaching or educational psychology

Graduate English Teaching Assistant: Job Role

As a Graduate English Teaching Assistant you will be responsible for:

• Support students across KS3 and KS4 with reading, writing, comprehension, and exam prep
• Assist in planning and delivering engaging English lessons
• Provide 1:1 and small group intervention for students who need a little extra help
• Encourage a love of reading through book clubs, creative writing workshops, and library support
• Work closely with English teachers to track student progress and adapt support strategies
