Senior Product Data Analyst- Consumer Growth

SumUp
London

About the team

SumUp is best known for helping small businesses get paid — our Consumer tribe builds the other half of that story. We make SumUp Consumer, the wallet app that lets everyday consumers pay SumUp merchants with a tap, send money to friends, track their spending and earn loyalty rewards along the way.

As we grow SumUp Consumer across new markets and features, we need sharp, reliable insight into how people discover, adopt and use the product — and how that behaviour translates

If you want to be the person leadership turns to for an honest read of the business, and to see your analysis change real product and commercial decisions, this role is for you.

What you'll do

Shape commercial decisions

  • Own the SumUp Consumer KPI framework end to end — defining which metrics matter, how they're measured and how they connect customer behaviour to commercial outcomes.
  • Evaluate the quality of our growth: CAC, source attribution, channel performance and downstream customer value, separating headline growth from sustainable growth.
  • Work with Risk and Anti-Fraud so fraud, abuse and economic loss are built into how we judge customers, channels and markets.

Drive product decisions

  • Diagnose where customers drop out between acquisition and activation, and which behaviours drive repeat usage, retention and lifetime value.
  • Design and analyse A/B tests and product experiments, assessing both customer and commercial impact.
  • Help Product Managers size opportunities and judge whether shipped features delivered the outcomes they promised.

Influence with data

  • Act as an independent analytical partner to Consumer leadership and to Product, Growth, Finance and Risk — proactively surfacing trends, risks and opportunities rather than waiting for requests. Challenge assumptions, metric definitions and interpretations constructively when the evidence points elsewhere.
  • Build trusted reporting and help teams self-serve routine questions, so your time goes on the problems that matter most.
  • Use AI and LLM-assisted techniques to speed up analysis, customer understanding and insight generation.

You'll be great for this role if…

  • You form your own view of why something happened and what the business should do about it — not just report what happened.
  • You've influenced senior stakeholders with data, including changing a decision or overturning a long-held assumption.
  • You understand the economics of a digital consumer product: acquisition, activation, retention, churn, customer lifetime value and unit economics.
  • You're fluent in product analytics — funnel, cohort, segmentation and behavioural analysis.
  • You have strong SQL and are comfortable querying, analysing and validating data in a cloud data warehouse such as Snowflake, BigQuery or similar.
  • You use a visualisation tool such as Tableau, Looker or Power BI to build reporting that stakeholders actually rely on.
  • You turn ambiguous questions into structured analysis and tell a clear, concise story to technical and non technical audiences alike.
  • You prioritise by business impact and are comfortable managing several stakeholders and workstreams at once.

Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience in consumer fintech, banking, payments or financial services
  • Growth or marketing analytics experience, including attribution, CAC and channel performance (e.g. AppsFlyer, Google Analytics)
  • Experience modelling customer lifetime value or unit economics
  • Experience partnering with fraud, abuse or risk teams
  • Depth in experimentation design and the statistics behind it
  • Familiarity with dbt or experience working alongside Analytics Engineers
  • Python or R for advanced analysis
