Project Manager

London
Water At Jacobs, we're challenging today to reinvent tomorrow by solving the world's most critical problems for thriving cities, resilient environments, mission-critical outcomes, operational advancement, scientific discovery and cutting-edge manufacturing, turning abstract ideas into realities that transform the world for good.

Your impact

Shape the Future of Critical Infrastructure with Jacobs

Investment in the water and environmental sector across the UK is at an all-time high — and Jacobs is right at the heart of it. This is a unique opportunity to make a real impact by building strategic partnerships with some of the region’s largest water and public sector organisations.

From early-stage feasibility and planning to design, construction, operations, and maintenance, we bring together top talent and deep expertise to deliver projects that matter. Our portfolio is broad, our capability is proven, and our impact is growing.

We’ve secured multi-year frameworks with leading clients, delivering essential services in water, wastewater, flood management, and environmental protection — projects that improve communities and protect the environment. These large portfolios of work require experienced leaders to deliver projects across our various Frameworks including , but not limited to United Utilities, Northumbrian Water, Thames Water, Severn Trent and Anglian Water

Currently we are looking for a Project Manager to join our busy water team in Birmingham. Upon joining, you’ll play a key role in leading the delivery of planning, detailed design, and Design & Build projects — contributing directly to high-profile national frameworks.

You’ll bring real value by managing and delivering a diverse range of projects, including water and wastewater, strategic planning, and flood management. From concept through to commissioning, your leadership will ensure technical excellence, regulatory compliance, stakeholder satisfaction, and delivery within agreed timeframes and budgets.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead multidisciplinary teams through all phases of the project lifecycle — feasibility, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
  • Take ownership of scope, budget, schedule, and risk to ensure successful delivery.
  • Oversee technical design reviews and ensure constructability, safety, and environmental compliance.
  • Act as the key point of contact for clients, regulators, contractors, and internal stakeholders — strengthening relationships and trust.
  • Maintain clear and accurate project documentation, including programmes, cost plans, and progress reports.
  • Champion innovation, sustainability, and continuous improvement across project delivery.

Here's what you'll need

  • Proven experience in managing water and wastewater projects, ideally within UK regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of both infrastructure (e.g., pipelines, sewers) and non-infrastructure (e.g., treatment plants, pumping stations) assets.
  • Experience in Design & Build delivery models and detailed design coordination.
  • Project Management Qualification; Member of ICE or CIWEM or NEC accreditation.

At Jacobs, you'll find more than just a job. You'll discover:

A global network of expertise and opportunity

A culture founded on safety, integrity, inclusion, and belonging

Flexible working arrangements that support your well-being and potential

Opportunities to make a real-world impact through our global giving and volunteering programs

Up to 10% pension

Free medical and income protection insurance and many more!
