Electrician
Key Responsibilities Electrical Works & Compliance
- Deliver a broad range of professional electrical services across all Building Services contracts.
- Carry out domestic electrical repairs, renewals, and installations to a high standard.
- Complete certification for all works undertaken, acknowledging personal liability in line with regulations.
- Apply and fully complete NICEIC certification or equivalent documentation.
- Operate and maintain electrical testing equipment, ensuring annual calibration.
- Undertake inspection and testing, determining appropriate actions, including escalation to emergency services where required.
- Set out work from engineering drawings and specifications.
- Lead or work as part of a team (up to five operatives), including coordination with other trades.
- Supervise, mentor, and train apprentices, trainees, and work-experience personnel as required.
- Drive and operate vehicles appropriate to the role, maintaining all required licences and accreditations.
- Use powered tools, access equipment, and hand tools safely, reporting defects promptly.
- Ensure equipment is cleaned, maintained, and safe for operational use, including PAT testing and ladder inspections.
- Maintain security of vehicles, tools, and plant, ensuring safe storage overnight.
- Record and manage material usage in line with Building Services Quality Management Systems.
- Liaise with line management and Building Services administration to review job orders and agree variations prior to work commencement.
- Communicate professionally with client officers and residents, providing technical advice and agreeing variations where necessary.
- Accurately record all works completed in line with the Schedule of Rates (SOR) to support final accounting.
- Use handheld devices and IT systems effectively following provided training.
- Comply at all times with Health & Safety legislation and Building Services RED FOLDER induction requirements.
- Remain vigilant regarding asbestos awareness and follow the Asbestos Procedure where applicable.
- Take responsibility for the health, safety, and welfare of colleagues, residents, and the general public.
- Respond to emergency call-outs and assist during Borough-wide emergencies as required.
- Fully comply with the Building Services Quality Management System, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Attend and actively participate in team meetings and training sessions.
- Carry out all duties in line with Health & Safety at Work legislation, Equal Opportunities policies, Customer Care standards, and corporate objectives.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of developments within the electrical and building services trade and participate in mandatory training.
- City & Guilds 236 Part 1 & 2 OR NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation
- IEE Wiring Regulations – 18th Edition
- City & Guilds 2391 – Inspection & Testing (or equivalent)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Full UK driving licence (or ability to meet role-related driving requirements)
