Software Engineers (DV Security Clearance) (IT)

CGI
London

CGI was recognised in the Sunday Times Best Places to Work List 2025 and named one of the World?s Best Employers by Forbes. We offer a competitive salary, excellent pension, private healthcare, and a share scheme (3.5% + 3.5% matching), making you a CGI partner, not just an employee. CGI?s Space, Defence and Intelligence business unit delivers bespoke, technically complex, mission-critical systems that help our clients keep the UK safe and secure. We work as a true systems integrator, combining proven and emerging technologies with agile delivery and deep domain expertise. We are seeking Software Engineers working closely with our clients to design, build, and operate high-value systems in highly secure environments. This is an opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology where your decisions directly impact real-world operations. Due to the secure nature of this role, candidates must be sole UK nationals and either already hold, or be eligible to obtain, a high level UK Security Clearance (DV/HLC). Candidates without current clearance are encouraged to apply and will be considered for this and other suitable opportunities within CGI. This role is primarily site-based (5 days per week) on a secure client location, with limited flexibility subject to business and security constraints. Candidate profile:

  • Design, develop, test, and deliver secure, scalable software solutions
  • Work end-to-end across the software lifecycle, from requirements to live systems
  • Collaborate with clients, architects, and engineers to solve complex problems
  • Build and integrate software components within secure deployment environments
  • Support and improve live systems to ensure resilience, performance, and security
  • Contribute to Agile teams and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Apply DevOps and automation practices to improve delivery and quality
Required qualifications to be successful in this role We welcome engineers with depth in one area or broader full-stack experience. You do not need experience in every technology listed. Core skills
  • Strong foundation in software engineering principles
  • Experience with one or more modern languages: Java, Python, Rust (or similar)
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
Desirable experience
  • CI/CD tooling (e.g. Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD)
  • Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform)
  • Cloud platforms (AWS or equivalent)
  • Linux environments, scripting, and automation (Bash, Ansible)
  • Testing and quality tools (Cucumber, SonarQube)
  • Monitoring and logging (ELK, Grafana)
  • Front-end frameworks (Vue.js or similar)
  • Dataflow and integration tools (e.g. Apache NiFi)
