Science Technician – Primary School – Kensington and Chelsea

Start Date: As soon as possible

Contract: Full-Time, Permanent

Salary: Paid to scale

A welcoming Primary School in the London Borough of Kensington and Chelsea is seeking an enthusiastic and organised Science Technician to support the delivery of engaging practical science lessons. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with practical resources and helping children develop curiosity through hands-on scientific investigation.

Working alongside the Science Lead and class teachers, you will prepare resources, organise equipment and ensure practical activities are delivered safely and efficiently. The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting practical science across the school while helping pupils develop confidence and enthusiasm for STEM subjects.

Science Team

The Science Team works collaboratively to provide exciting practical experiences that encourage pupils to investigate, question and discover.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing resources for practical science lessons.

  • Organising equipment for classroom investigations.

  • Maintaining science equipment and storage areas.

  • Monitoring stock levels and ordering resources.

  • Supporting teachers during practical activities.

  • Ensuring health and safety procedures are followed.

  • Preparing simple demonstrations and experiments.

  • Maintaining science inventories.

  • Keeping preparation areas clean and organised.

  • Supporting STEM enrichment activities.

  • Assisting with science displays across the school.

  • Maintaining risk assessment documentation.

  • Supporting sustainability and recycling initiatives.

  • Carrying out routine equipment checks.

  • Assisting with departmental administration where required.

Requirements

  • Previous laboratory or science support experience is desirable.

  • Good organisational skills.

  • Strong practical ability.

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Good communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Good IT skills.

  • Positive and proactive attitude.

  • Commitment to safeguarding.

  • Enthusiasm for supporting children's learning.
