Planning, Performance and Insights (Consultant)
Job Description
Job Description About Finance Reinvention Partner Accenture's Finance Reinvention Partner helps CFOs and finance leaders reinvent how finance creates and protects enterprise value - bringing together strategy, operating model, data, AI and technology to improve performance, insight, control and execution. In the UK and Ireland, the practice combines finance strategy and transformation capabilities with the enterprise platforms that enable them, including SAP, Oracle, Workday and enterprise performance management solutions. Our Planning, Performance & Insights team helps clients transform how they plan, forecast, allocate resources, manage performance and make decisions. We connect strategic, financial and operational planning with data, analytics and modern planning technologies to create more integrated, agile and insight-led performance management capabilities. We support the full transformation journey - from planning strategy, process and operating model design through solution architecture, implementation, adoption and value realisation - embedding predictive analytics, machine learning and AI to improve forecast quality, scenario modelling and management insight. Our work is particularly relevant to capital-intensive Products and Resources organisations, where financial plans must connect effectively with demand, production, assets, projects, workforce and capital investment. Why this role This is a hands-on delivery role for someone who wants to build deep expertise in enterprise planning, modern performance-management technology and data-led decision support. You will work with finance, operational and technology stakeholders to understand existing planning processes, turn requirements into practical model designs, and support configuration, data, testing, deployment and adoption. The expertise you'll bring Planning and finance foundations. Experience participating in or supporting a budgeting, forecasting or long-range planning process, with an understanding of how operational drivers affect the income statement, balance sheet and cash flow. At least 4 years of relevant experience either in process and/or planning platform. Requirements and process analysis. The ability to document planning calendars, activities, roles, controls, systems and data flows; gather requirements through interviews and workshops; and converts findings into clear process maps, user stories and functional documentation. Planning model and platform delivery. Hands-on experience with, or strong exposure to, at least one modern planning platform - such as SAP Analytics Cloud, Anaplan, Pigment, CCH Tagetik, Oracle EPM or OneStream - and the ability to support model configuration across dimensions, hierarchies, assumptions, calculations, allocations, workflow, security and reporting. Data and performance insight. Strong numerical and analytical skills, with experience preparing, reconciling and validating data; investigating actual-to-plan variances; and developing reports or dashboards that explain performance and support decisions. Products and Resources or similar industry understanding. Experience or project exposure within Products and/or Resources organisations, ideally where planning is influenced by demand, production, assets, projects, workforce, supply chain or capital expenditure. Predictive planning and machine-learning awareness. An understanding of how predictive forecasting, trend analysis, anomaly detection and machine learning can support planning, together with the curiosity to test outputs, question assumptions and explain how insights should be used. Collaborative delivery skills. The ability to work effectively across finance, business, data and technology teams, produce clear client-ready outputs, manage your own commitments and communicate progress, risks and findings with confidence. Qualification What you'll be accountable for
- Document current planning processes, calendars, roles, systems, controls, data flows and pain points using interviews, workshops and available evidence.
- Gather and analyse business requirements, translating them into process maps, user stories, functional requirements and model-design inputs.
- Analyse financial and operational data to identify key drivers, trends, dependencies and opportunities to improve planning and performance insight.
- Configure or support the configuration of planning models, including dimensions, hierarchies, assumptions, calculations, allocations, scenarios, workflow, security and reporting.
- Support data preparation, migration, integration, reconciliation, system testing, user acceptance testing and defect resolution, ensuring outputs are complete and traceable.
- Develop planning reports, dashboards, variance analysis and forecast-quality measures that help users understand what changed, why it changed and what action may be required.
- Support predictive-forecasting and machine-learning use cases by preparing data, testing outputs, documenting assumptions and working with specialists and business users to validate results.
- Prepare process documentation, training materials and user guidance, and support deployment, adoption, post-go-live activities and continuous improvement.
- Take ownership of assigned deliverables and contribute to proposals, demonstrations, market research and reusable Planning, Performance & Insights assets.
