Graduate Teaching Assistant
Graduate Teaching Assistant
September 2026 | £26,000–£30,000 | Full-Time | Teacher Training Pathway
Are you a graduate considering teaching but want genuine classroom experience before committing to teacher training?
Would you like to spend an academic year developing your skills in a successful North London secondary school?
Could this be your first step towards becoming a qualified teacher in 2027?
KPI Education is recruiting an ambitious Graduate Teaching Assistant to join an impressive secondary school in Barnet, North London, from September 2026.
This isn't simply a classroom support position. The school wants a talented graduate with the potential to become an excellent teacher and will provide the mentoring, experience and increasing responsibility needed to help you decide whether teaching is the career for you.
Why Choose This Graduate Role?
- £26,000–£30,000 salary / minimum £550 per week
- Full-time position throughout the 2026/27 academic year
- One-year fixed-term contract with potential to extend
- Work alongside experienced teachers and Heads of Department
- Gain experience across KS3, GCSE and potentially A-Level
- Deliver targeted 1:1 and small-group interventions
- Potentially work predominantly within your degree subject
- Support GCSE pupils with revision and examination preparation
- Develop classroom management and lesson-delivery skills
- Access mentoring and professional development
- Potential progression into teacher training from September 2027
More Than Classroom Support
From your first term, you'll become an active member of the school community.
You could spend the morning supporting lessons within your specialist department before delivering an intervention to pupils who need additional academic support. Later, you might lead a GCSE revision group, work individually with a pupil or support students with SEND.
You'll also help create resources, monitor progress and become involved in enrichment, revision sessions and wider school activities.
As your confidence develops, so can your responsibilities, giving you an invaluable insight into what life as a teacher is really like.
The School
Based in Barnet, this successful secondary school has a thriving sixth form, modern facilities and an ambitious academic culture.
Clear behaviour expectations create purposeful classrooms, while experienced teachers and department leaders provide a supportive environment for graduates looking to develop.
Rather than spending the year observing from the sidelines, you'll be encouraged to become a genuine member of the teaching team.
Who Are We Looking For?
The school wants to meet bright, confident and academically strong graduates with excellent communication skills and a genuine interest in education.
Applications are welcomed from a wide range of degree backgrounds, particularly English, Maths, Science, Humanities, Languages, Psychology and related subjects.
Previous school experience is useful but not essential. Your attitude, reliability, academic ability and potential are more important.
If teaching is on your radar, spend a year finding out whether the classroom is where your future belongs.
