Graduate STEM Teaching Assistant – Barnet School – Earn Up to £600 per week – September Start

A group of well-respected secondary schools in Barnet are seeking motivated and academically strong individuals to join their teams this September as Graduate STEM Teaching Assistants . This is an excellent opportunity to support students in Maths, Science, and related subjects while developing your own skills in a dynamic school setting.

About the Role – Graduate STEM Teaching Assistant

As a Graduate STEM Teaching Assistant , you'll work closely with subject teachers and the wider support team to improve student understanding and engagement in STEM subjects. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing targeted academic support in Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or Engineering-based subjects.
  • Delivering small-group and one-to-one intervention sessions to help students close learning gaps or stretch their abilities.
  • Assisting in lesson planning and delivery, with the opportunity to lead portions of lessons over time.
  • Offering mentoring and study skills support, especially in the run-up to GCSE and A-Level exams.
  • Gaining practical classroom experience while exploring different teaching approaches and learning environments.

Who Should Apply? – Graduate STEM Teaching Assistant Profile

We’re looking for enthusiastic, committed individuals who can make a real difference in the classroom:

  • A 2:1 or higher in a STEM-related subject (e.g., Maths, Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science).
  • Strong subject knowledge and confidence in supporting learners at both KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A proactive and supportive attitude, with the ability to adapt to the needs of different learners.
  • Prior experience working with young people (e.g., tutoring, mentoring, youth programmes) is beneficial but not essential.
