Nanny – Complex Medical Needs | Maida Vale

A wonderful family in Maida Vale are looking for a loving and experienced nanny to join their small, dedicated team caring for their adorable 3-year-old son.

First and foremost, this is a nanny role. The family are looking for someone who genuinely loves working with young children and will bring all the warmth, fun and creativity you would expect from a great nanny. Their little boy has a rare and severe skin condition which means he requires careful handling and has a specialised daily care routine, so the nanny must also be comfortable and confident working with a child who has significant medical needs.

You will be joining an established team of nannies and carers who all share the same goal – to give this little boy a happy, stimulating and fun-filled childhood, while ensuring his medical and physical needs are managed safely and sensitively.

The family would love to find someone kind, gentle, patient and naturally nurturing who enjoys playing, reading, getting out and about and coming up with engaging, age-appropriate activities. They want someone who will focus on him as a 3-year-old little boy first, encouraging his development, independence and curiosity while adapting activities where necessary to keep him safe.

Previous experience with SEN or children with complex medical needs would certainly be an advantage, but it is not essential, as full training will be provided. What matters most is finding the right nanny – someone who is calm, empathetic, incredibly gentle and keen to learn. You need to be comfortable with the medical side of the role and willing to undertake all the necessary training to confidently manage his individual care needs.

This is very much a team environment, so the nanny should enjoy working collaboratively with others, communicate well and be happy to follow established routines and care plans.

The family are looking for someone to work either 3 full days per week or approximately 35–40 hours, with some waking night shifts included. As part of a small team, some flexibility is important, particularly when colleagues are on annual leave or unavailable. There may therefore be opportunities to provide additional day or waking night cover, which will be arranged in advance wherever possible.

This is a really special role for a nanny who loves working with young children and would enjoy building a close, long-term relationship with a little boy while learning how to support his more complex medical needs.
