Client Support Worker - HIV
Job overview
The Caldecot Centre is a large HIV outpatient clinic managing more than 3000 HIV patients per year. The Service covers a diverse patient population and is currently expanding its range of services including Trans Health (CliniQ).
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic band 3 Senior Healthcare Assistant to join our small and friendly team. This is a full time post 37.5 hours per week for 9 months, fixed term maternity leave cover.
Experience in HIV care and/or sexual health is desirable, and established phlebotomy skills would be an advantage. However please apply if you are kind, caring and have energy and commitment to learn new skills in what can sometimes be a fast paced and challenging environment.
The successful candidate will be given the chance to develop knowledge and skills within the speciality, as well as to develop professionally whilst being fully supported.

Main duties of the job
This is post will support several clinics across Caldecot Centre, including HIV, Trans health, ID clinic and complex contraception.
The post holder will support other clinicians and also be required to work autonomously with clients in the privacy of
confidential rooms without direct supervision but in accordance with agreed
protocols. This successful candidate on completion of their competency document perform
venepuncture for routine blood tests; carry out screening for sexually
transmitted infections; carry out microscopy; oversee specimen collection;
record the patient’s weight, BMI, blood pressure, support patients with
psycho-social assessments and act as the patient’s advocate.

clinical procedures and clean and check equipment to comply with Health and
Safety and Infection Control policies. Included also is the preparation and
administration of specimens prior to transportation to laboratories.
