Do you want to help shape responsible retail banking by embedding thoughtful governance and risk practices? We're looking for a Product Risk Manager to join our Retail Banking team and play a key role in enhancing product risk awareness and controls.

Reporting to the Director of Product Risk and Governance, you'll contribute to the development of product governance, policies, controls, and management information that support safe and fair outcomes for customers. Your work will directly support the Retail segment's financial crime prevention and operational risk goals.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Partnering with Retail banking teams to deliver products aligned to risk appetite and regulatory expectations
  • Embedding risk thinking into product development by enabling teams to combine customer-centricity with compliance from the outset
  • Driving timely and robust governance for new product initiatives, ensuring swift yet safe delivery
  • Ensuring existing and back book product reviews are completed by first- line product owners at the right cadence and to the requisite standard
  • Assisting the Retail business in delivering good outcomes and maintaining a robust control environment - with regular documentation, calibration, review, testing and timely action completion
  • Developing and delivering accurate, actionable MI for risk monitoring and reporting to senior committees
  • Strengthening product risk capabilities by embedding a training and development framework across Retail product teams
  • Helping 1st line solution/ product owners execute their risk management responsibilities effectively.
  • Engaging and collaborating with Second Line risk across the bank and Group Head of Internal Audit to create a coherent risk view
  • Leading on the management of Issues and Operational Events to complete read-across and root cause analysis to strengthen the risk environment

Requirements

  • Proven experience in banking / financial services, with a focus on retail banking
  • Experience supporting the management of Retail product risk in 1st LOD environments covering Conduct Risk topics across product governance, marketing and finprom, vulnerable customers, complaints etc.
  • Experience working in a regulated financial institution
  • A deep desire to solve problems using regulation and data to drive business decisions
  • Ability to analyse and interpret complex regulatory frameworks, including the interaction between multiple regulations/frameworks
  • Hands-on, resilient and adaptable to a fast moving environment
  • Bias to action, through curiosity and collaboration
  • Business acumen and commercial awareness
