What you'll be doing As a Staff Quality Engineer, you will act as a strategic quality leader and individual contributor, driving test strategy, execution, coordination, and reporting across multiple domains such as Made to Measure, App, and Commercial. You won’t have direct reports, but you’ll lead through influence-aligning teams, enabling best practices, and ensuring quality is embedded across the SDLC. What You'll Do- Define, Own & Implement Test Strategy: Lead the creation and evolution of the overall test strategy and vision for projects and domains. Ensure alignment with business goals, delivery timelines, and quality standards.
- Cross-Team Coordination: Work across numerous teams and projects to provide a cohesive and unified quality strategy. Act as a central point of alignment for testing practices, tooling, and reporting.
- Stakeholder Communication: Act as a bridge between QA, engineers, product owners, and business stakeholders .
- Third-Party Strategy: Define and implement test strategies for third-party integrations and vendor-delivered solutions. Ensure external quality practices align with Dunelm’s standards and delivery expectations. Feed into the RFP process to help build quality into 3rd party engagements from the initial stages of engagement.
- Lead and manage UAT providing clear and consistent bug tracking, reporting and stakeholder management.
- Automation Leadership: Contribute to and evolve automation frameworks to support scalable, maintainable, and reliable test coverage.
- Reporting & Visibility: Own quality metrics and reporting, providing clear visibility into test health, coverage, and release readiness.
- Domain Collaboration: Partner with engineers, product managers, and QAs across Made to Measure, App, and Commercial to embed quality early.
- Quality Advocacy: Champion quality practices, mentor others, and influence the wider quality culture.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify and drive improvements in testing processes, tooling, and team practices.
- Delivery: Agile Delivery Leads to align on planning, execution, and release readiness.
- Principals: Across Engineering, Product, and Quality chapters to ensure strategic alignment and technical consistency.
- Quality Leadership Team: To contribute to chapter-wide initiatives, share insights, and help shape the future of quality at Dunelm.
- Product Teams: To ensure quality is embedded early and continuously throughout the product lifecycle.
- External Partners: Collaborate with third-party vendors and integration partners to define and uphold quality standards, testing strategies, and delivery expectations.
- Coordination and collaboration: Experience in cross team coordination and leading test strategy across multiple different systems and teams
- Strategy & Planning: Experience in developing comprehensive testing strategies, detailed test plans, and methodologies that align with project goals.
- Experience in working with different 3rd parties' software providers (SASS, PASS, etc)
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to lead through influence and drive alignment without direct authority.
- Systems thinking and a passion for continuous improvement.
- Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks (e.g., Cypress, Playwright, or similar).
- Deep understanding of CI/CD pipelines and modern delivery practices.
- Experience with serverless architectures and cloud-native testing approaches.
- Familiarity with contract testing, API testing, and mobile testing strategies.
- Exposure to observability tools and quality metrics reporting.
- Experience working in a platform or enablement team.
- Understanding of SAP Systems and SAP testing strategies.
