The Role
An ambitious Secondary Academy in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets is seeking a professional, proactive, and highly organised Premises Assistant to join their energetic on-site estates team. The successful candidate will work across a rotating shift system (covering early openings or late evening building lockups) to maintain site security and operational readiness. Day-to-day duties include conducting dynamic security sweeps, setting up multi-use halls for assemblies and exams, managing waste clearance schemes, and accepting large-scale logistical deliveries. Additionally, you will handle minor fabric maintenance tasks—such as painting, assembling furniture tracking assets, unblocking localized drainage facilities, and conducting statutory safety checks like water temperature monitoring and fire alarm tests.
You will maintain professional communication channels with the Site Manager, teaching staff, and external cleaning networks, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and safely. Strong time-management skills are required to balance urgent, reactive porterage requests with routine compliance tasks in a busy urban academy environment.

Requirements
Previous practical experience in caretaking, basic building trade operations, or property maintenance

Ability to work flexibly across a rotating shift framework
