Technical Director of Strucutral Engineering

Calibre Search
London

An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an accomplished and commercially driven Technical Director of Structural Engineering to join a leading multidisciplinary Consultancy in London. Based in the company's prestigious Angel Court office, this is a senior strategic leadership role offering the chance to take full ownership of the growth, performance, and market influence of a high-performing Structural Engineering team operating at the forefront of the UK's built environment.

As part of the Consultancy's national structural leadership group, you will play a pivotal role in setting the direction of the business within London and across the UK. You will lead a diverse portfolio of technically complex and commercially significant projects across multiple sectors including commercial, residential, education, healthcare, science and technology, and defence. The role demands an individual capable of combining technical excellence with strong commercial and strategic leadership, ensuring that client satisfaction, financial performance, and delivery quality remain consistently outstanding.

Reporting to the national head of Structural Engineering, you will drive business development initiatives, lead major bids, and cultivate lasting relationships with clients, architects, developers, and key delivery partners. You will position the London team as a trusted advisor and technical authority, delivering commercially intelligent, sustainable, and innovative structural solutions. This is a role that requires a visible and confident leader who can represent the business at senior client and industry levels, while shaping the long-term strategy and profitability of the Consultancy's structural offering.
You will be a Chartered Civil Engineer or Structural Engineer with extensive post-chartership experience gained within a leading multidisciplinary or design-led consultancy environment. Your career will demonstrate a track record of successfully managing teams, delivering major projects, and leading client engagement at board level. Strong commercial acumen, proven success in developing new business, and the ability to manage financial performance and resource planning are essential. A deep understanding of the design process, from concept through delivery, combined with an ability to translate technical innovation into commercial success, will set you apart.

As a people leader, you will be responsible for nurturing and expanding a talented team of Structural Engineers, mentoring emerging leaders, and fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and accountability. You will play a key role in aligning the London team with the wider national and global network, ensuring consistency, knowledge sharing, and operational excellence across the business.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a senior engineering professional ready to make a defining impact within one of the industry's most respected consultancies. You will join a forward-thinking organisation that combines global reach with local expertise, offering a culture that values leadership, innovation, and professional development.

A highly competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package will be offered, commensurate with experience and leadership contribution.

This is more than a leadership position - it is a chance to take strategic ownership of a thriving Structural Engineering business, influence its commercial direction, and help shape the next phase of growth for a Consultancy recognised for delivering excellence in engineering and design.
