Registered Veterinary Nurse

About your new role! Situated in a beautiful area of south London, Dundonald Road is a skip and hop away from plenty of quiet green space, and when the sun likes to make an appearance it’s perfect for your protected lunch break if you wished to venture out. Dundonald Road is in the heart of a very busy local community and as a result has a client base who have been returning for years. The Practice is equipped with everything you would expect from a busy GP first opinion practice, including lab facilities. You will be joining a long-standing team including our vet Richard who has provided invaluable care to his patients for years, plus an incredibly experienced support team who have successfully built up strong relationships throughout the community. As the sole RVN in practice, there will be additional accountabilities which have been reflected in a higher RVN salary band, to help support Richard and the team in the day to day running of the practice. This role is full-time role (offering either a 4 or 5 day week option) which includes a 1:4 branch Saturday and 1:10 Sunday rotation at the nearby Stone Lion Hospital in Wimbledon Village, where you will be rota ‘d to 1 bank holiday per year. There are NO on-call requirements for this position. As a branch RVN some of your duties will include: – Ensure the provision of a high quality and continually improving standard of nursing care.– Assist the veterinary surgeon in theatre and during consultations, as and when required.
– Maintain comprehensive patient hospitalisation records.
– Ensure a high standard of comfort and welfare for all pets in our care.
– Complete and maintain accurate records of hospitalised patients.
– Maintain a respectful and collaborative team environment
– Ensure equipment is cleaned, packed, sterilised and stored correctly when not in use.
– Maintain adequate stocks of drugs, diets and consumables and place orders with our suppliers to required levels as necessary.
– Assist with the induction of new staff and their subsequent training.
– Provide reception duties, as required, ensuring a friendly and efficient handling of clients and their pets, in person, by email and over the telephone.
– Support student nurses as a clinical supervisor OOH and emergency care is provided by Stone Lion Hospital and the practice works closely with the 24-hour site to ensure its patients receive the best care possible. The practice is walking distance from Wimbledon’s transport links, and also has parking if you do drive, which is a rare occurrence in London! Now let’s get to the nitty gritty, here is what we offer you: Our full-time sole branch RVN salary band is £34,000 to £37,000depending on experience allowing room for growth and development within the role.
