Policy & Public Affairs Manager

The opportunity
My client, a prominent UK financial services group and global investor , is seeking a Public Affairs and Policy Manager for a permanent, London-based role.
Operating at a strategic level, you will shape the organisation’s voice on key policy issues - specifically within asset management . This is a high-visibility role focused on influencing the political landscape and advising senior leadership on the intersection of business strategy and government affairs.
Key responsibilities
- Policy Strategy: Proactively develop and advocate for policy positions that align with corporate strategy and asset management priorities.
- Executive Advisory: Provide political analysis and high-level briefings to the Group CEO and senior executives to support external engagement.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a lead representative with MPs, civil servants, regulators, and trade bodies to advance the group’s interests.
- Horizon Scanning: Monitor the UK and international political landscape to identify emerging risks and strategic opportunities.
- Thought Leadership: Help deliver impactful research and group-wide campaigns that position the firm as a trusted industry voice.
- Governance: Ensure all policy responses and interactions meet high standards of accountability and Consumer Duty obligations.
The ideal candidate will bring
- Political Network: A deep understanding of the UK political landscape with an established network across Westminster and policy circles.
- Sector Knowledge: Deep expertise in the policy and regulatory challenges of asset management or financial services more broadly. Experience in a commercial setting is preferred. Agency candidates are welcome too.
- Influence & Communication: Ability to translate complex policy issues into persuasive narratives for senior internal and external audiences.
- Strategic Agility: Proven experience navigating complex, regulated environments and managing high-pressure workloads independently.
- Relationship Management: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build credibility at the C-suite level.
