Year 5 Teacher - Dagenham

A forward-thinking primary school in Dagenham is seeking an experienced and energetic Year 5 Teacher to join the Key Stage 2 phase from January 2026. The successful Year 5 Teacher will plan and deliver sequenced units that develop pupils’ reasoning, fluency and extended writing. This Year 5 Teacher role provides scope to lead targeted small-group work, contribute to cross-curricular projects and help shape whole-school practice across Dagenham. The post will commence January 2026, with induction and planning sessions in the weeks leading to January 2026 so the Year 5 Teacher is prepared for the spring term.

The Year 5 Teacher will use assessment to set precise next steps, design engaging lessons that deepen subject knowledge and run booster sessions where required. The Year 5 Teacher will work closely with subject leads and teaching assistants to secure strong outcomes and will contribute to moderation and reporting. Working in Dagenham, the appointed Year 5 Teacher will have access to CPD and supportive leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver sequenced Year 5 lessons that develop knowledge, fluency and application.
  • Use assessment to identify priorities and deliver timely group support that accelerates progress.
  • Lead small-group teaching, provide effective feedback and monitor impact on outcomes.
  • Collaborate on curriculum planning, moderation and cross-curricular enrichment across Dagenham.
  • Maintain clear communications with parents to support pupils’ learning and wellbeing.

Person specification

  • Qualified teacher with demonstrable Year 5 or KS2 experience and a record of impact.
  • Strong curriculum knowledge, excellent classroom routines and effective behaviour strategies.
  • Organised, reflective and committed to contributing to the Dagenham school community.
  • Available to begin January 2026 and attend induction and planning sessions before January 2026.
