Role Overview

A high-achieving, well-resourced secondary school in Barnet is seeking a meticulous and proactive Science Technician to join their thriving Science Department ASAP. Supporting practical teaching across Key Stages 3 to 5, you will play a vital role in setting up laboratory equipment, managing practical resources, maintaining safety standards, and providing technical support during experiments in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, set up, and clear away equipment, chemicals, and specimens required for practical lessons and examinations across KS3–KS5.

• Maintain laboratory equipment and teaching spaces to ensure a safe, clean, and well-organized environment.

• Ensure strict adherence to health and safety regulations, including CLEAPSS guidelines, risk assessments, and COSHH standards.

• Manage inventory, order stock, and keep accurate records of chemicals, apparatus, and equipment.

• Assist teaching staff during practical demonstrations and provide direct technical guidance during lessons where appropriate.

Key Requirements

• Qualification: Qualification | Institution | Dates (e.g., Degree/HNC in a Science discipline or relevant Technical Certificate | Awarding Institution | Year)

• Strong background or educational background in Science (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics).

• Previous experience working as a school Science Technician or in a laboratory environment (desirable).

• Knowledge of CLEAPSS, COSHH, and general school laboratory health and safety protocols.

• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

• Legal right to work in the UK.
